That is the other perfectly valid explanation for some of the idiotic posts.Hilts only joins in on these threads when he’s on an ale session.
I haven't followed the internal politics of withdrawing from Afghanistan but I did watch a couple of his speeches on the tele last week. He seems quite adamant that there is no good time to pull out so there was no point in delaying it. And that there was always going to be some trouble. The challenge obviously then would have been to mitigate the amount of trouble - which I don't think has been handled well. His own countrymen shouldn't have been scrambling to leave in short notice.
But if he ends the war and diverts all that money that needed to be spent to prolong occupation and the manpower towards domestic issues like affordable healthcare and investing in education/public infrastructure then I suspect he will be forgiven. I read under Ronald Reagan over 200 marines died in an attack in Beirut but he won 49 states just a year later. People clearly didn't hold that against him.

Are you counting the ISIS-K terror attack as something that could have been prevented had the withdrawal been carried out differently?On the grounds the withdrawal has been a disaster I think that was obvious.

I hardly post in any of these threads anymore. I observe patterns though. Your level of participation in these threads seems directly proportional to your alcohol intake. Not had a drink today mate. I noticed your name because you have given me grief before. Strangely I have also noted you have liked some of my posts which suggests you are the type that only likes opinions that you agree with.
By the way I laughed off the fact I got dragged into the pretty diabolical brexit thread. What I put in there I was fine with.
The only time i have ever really bothered with American politics is calling Trump a fuckwit so I responded to being accused of being a fan. Yet again I have now mentioned this several times.
So Trump and needless loss of life have been a concern to me, that is all. If you think this is odd that's your business.
