Pressure is on Manchester City - Harry Redknapp

Lets see what he is saying after we get three points against his team. think he knows his team are not good enough.

I would cut down on the interviews, I would send chappy out to do the pre and post match interviews, now that would be entertaining and leave the arse licking basterds scratching their heads, can you imagine him coming on with his flat cap and and saying eeeee for having the biggest cheeks in the world the winner is mr redknapper

Redknapp has done a good job there but to claim they've spent hardly any money to get where they are is a myth. When he took over in 2008 they may have been bottom of the table but they were in a totally false position and their squad was comfortably top 4/5 quality - don't forget that Martin Jol had engineered 2 top 5 finishes in the previous 3 seasons. Granted they haven't spent as much as us but due to chronic under-investment in our team compared to theirs prior to the takeover, we've had to spend a shit-load just to bridge the gap. Redknapp also has the services of a player we paid £25 million for and his club are only paying half his wages.

If Redknapp really does believe it's possible to become title challengers on a shoestring budget then how come Everton are nowhere near the top? Tottenham are a very well run club and do a great job balancing the books but they also benefit hugely from their geographical location in terms of what they can charge for ticket prices and corporate hospitality, and as such replicating the Tottenham model (or the Arsenal one for that matter) outside of London would be nigh on impossible.

The pressure is very much on Spurs, not us.

We don't win the title, we dust ourselves off, continue to build tge squad and have another go next season.

They go on a run like last season and miss the top 4 and it's bye bye Bale, bye bye Modric.

Even if they make it these players are going to want to earn top 4 money.

If they don't win this season will they ever have a better chance?

Not to mention a catchment area of 6 to 8 million with only TWO clubs in North London

Found this article from two years ago.

I think it suggests that Spurs have in fact spent more than most.

Very good points. I think it's fair to say that our owner is pragmatic enough not to get all trigger happy if we don't win it this season - we'll just come back stronger next term in all probability. Spurs on the other hand will have to start paying their players what they're worth in today's market if they win the title or at least finish in the top 4 (which I'm sure they will).
