Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

Tickets for an adult and 2 kids for Bournemouth at home, £51 for all 3! and about 1,000 left at that price. That's a game at 4:30 on a Sunday so no midweek excuses, no early kick off explanation.
They've badly messed about and disrespected the fan base over the past 3/4 years and it's coming home to roost.
6,000 more seats to sell next year, they might be begging for season ticket sales.
If they're struggling to sell 3 tickets for £50 for a premier league game, they've got something badly wrong. We've been telling them on here for years....
Stupid sales criteria, fake sell-outs to push hospitality, prioritising resellers and agents ahead of local fans....people just get out of the habit of going.
The plans were for 7,910 extra seats. Fake sell-outs? Is today's game sold-out?

By fake sell outs he means showing the game as sold out until 3 weeks before when potentially thousands of tickets are then added to the planner.

It's made perfectly clear to everyone at the start of the season there will be a second release of tickets plus exchange tickets plus unused flexi gold plus returned away tickets 3 weks before every game there is no fake sell outs,it's how I plan my games and tickets now and far better than the previous system.More fussing about nothing.

Where did i say it wasnt clear? I explained why the previous poster had mentioned 'fake sell outs'.

Yes wasn't the best worded, wasn't meaning you were doing the fussing, just the general obsession with selling every ticket when plenty go onto the planner just 3 weeks before, they would probably be all sold if the away block hadn't been returned. whether they all sell or don't really isn't a big deal.

I am more concerned about not being able to get a few seats sat together to be fair, then when you get to the match you see rafts of snap happy vloggers and tourists sat 10-20 abreast.

We can all spot a tourist and we all know what block visitors are, I know you put legacy fans at the back of the queue Marvin you need to rein that disdain in.
Tell me how you identify tourist fans because I don't know how you do it. I do not have any disdain for long standing City fans but I don't care for fans who can claim at a glance that there are subsets of City fans and some are better than others.

All jump up when the opposition scores, shit load of club shop bags and half and half scarves and all sat in a block of 10-20 people. You know that though Marvin as many have pointed out to you.

You're not THAT stupid surely?

We should just allow in all those fans that can prove they went to Maine Road every match - ban all the new excited fans. And when all the real fans eventually get too old to go, the 115 result should be out & the club can close down.

Nope that's not it is it? When we are unsuccesful again where are the fans who are coming in? Are the club helping younger local fans to get involved in the club?

The "New" fans aren't excited they are there for the event, the club shop and the social media clicks. This isn't football and it's unsustainable.

You have to cultivate your support not shit all over it.

Posted this on another thread but it seems appropriate here as well !

lose the tribalism and the passion"

Nail on the head. The game is becoming more prawn sandwich.
Perhaps this is why we haven't made any plans to attend any home games this season for the first time. We normally book a few games up early then add to them as the season goes on. I think the nightmare of trying to get tickets let alone sat together from last season has dampen our sprite.

I dont get that tribalism feeling anymore and I miss it. Ive said a thousand times we do a 12 hour round trip the least I want is to be next to my lad and surrounded by 100% City fans. If I can't get that I'm not doing the trip up, sadly. When I get to the Etihad I want be be surrounded by City fans. I dont want to see a tourist wearing a spuds shirt going into the club shop buy a City shirt to put over the spuds shirt when City are playing Southampton. I thought then ' what the fuck have i just sat in a car for 7hrs for, this isn't what I want' !
Seeing that has really knocked me wanting to travel to games now

Think you've hit the nail on the head about finances. Was at the London stadium for work only last week & got talking to some fans who were pragmatic in moving from Upton Park. Similar to us, it would have been madness to turn down pretty much a free stadium where they could grow, generate more revenue in order to keep pace with the other London club big boys.

What I don't understand is why they couldn't properly reconfig the stadium similar to us which also had running track. Seemed a bit of a rush to get them in & now more work to retrospectively change it for football use.
That was all down to the athletics body and Seb Coe. They insisted that the London Stadium be available for athletics meetings. Hence the Frankenstein’s monster air about the place.

It was offered to Spurs who rejected the stadium unless they could flatten it and build a new stadium on the site.

It costs several million pounds every time the stadium is used for an athletics meeting as all the scaffolding and the temporary seats have to be dismantled and then put back afterwards.

If they wanted an athletics track to be retained, they should have stuck with the original idea and downsized the stadium to maybe 20,000 capacity and possibly offer it to Orient to play football. I don’t know how that would all have been paid for?

Then West Ham could have built themselves a football stadium worthy of the club.

I go to all the home games, and the only time I've seen away fans in the home ends is on a CL night in the non-season ticket areas. I think you're mistaking Asian fans for tourists.

Many of the big games have them all over the ground, are you saying blues that comment on this are lying? I get it you're supporting new fans but I am not supporting them over the legacy fans or the new local fans that we need to keep the fanbase going.

Race has nothing to do with it and there is no need for race baiting I couldn't give a shit what you think TBH.

If you’re a regular match-goer it’s pretty easy to spot a tourist.
