Priced out?

I looked around me in CBL3 on Thursday and was struck by the age of so many fans.

We all probably started watching City in the late 50s,early 60s putting us now in our late 60s,mid 70s & above.

Many hundreds, possibly thousands of us, will stop attending games for a variety of reasons in the next few years.

I really wonder how the club will attract and keep the replacement generation with the ticketing /pricing/ conditions in place currently, because they are steadily ailienating many, many hitherto loyal fans.

Wake up City, you're at at a dangerous tipping point !!
Great post sums it up !!!

I think the ones with season tickets aren't being priced out .It's the ones buying tickets on a match by match basis that definitely are.
Waiting to see what brainwave the powers to be come up with for selling new seats in the North Stand .Couldn't fill the ground for Feyenoord,Forrest,Everton.for whatever reason. It will be interesting to see what the bright sparks come up with

Agree it might be unpopular but to me season ticket prices seem OK in this mad world.
For us to do our what use to be normal 10 games a season it's now over 700quid plus your 35quid membership lol.

Who wants to pay over 700quid for 10 games, sat apart from your family and friends. I miss giving my son a hug when we score, i miss those special moments because he is rows away. You spend hours queuing online, than get offer only single seats. It's becoming fucking ridiculous to be honest. Etihad doesn't feel like home, doesn't feel like I belong, it's more like an attraction, theme park. It doesn't feel like I'm going to a football match.

Us buy a ticket, a beer in Mary Ds or the Townley than a bag of chips on the walk round to the ground. We aren't wanted we don't spend enough in the club shop or in the stadium.
For decades this was enough for the club.

Monitising is the name of the game.

Mancunians are peasants, tourists are kings.

Rinse,Rinse & Rinse.

I have a faint manc accent my mates who are City fans have 100% southern. We would stand out at Maine Road because of our accents. Now hearing a manc accent is getting rare at the Etihad !

Here’s a few ideas:

- Resurrect the Junior Blues or something similar

- Scrap the guaranteed payouts for tickets listed on the official Ticket Exchange

- Targeted offers. 500 tickets from the Everton game could have been made available at £30 adults / £15 comcessions

- cheaper junior tickets around the ground and family tickets

- reduce the annual for flexi-goods and have a clear pathway to a full season card.

- address season card hoarding. Fans to make spares available at affordable prices.

This wouldn’t cost more than a few mil. This could recouped by Fining the players who refused to chase back when Everton were through 4 against 2 in the final minutes.

Just been speaking to my mate 10 minutes ago saying same thing
We both jacked in season tickets years ago and only go now really if mates can't go and we use there's
If we wanted to go next home game £70 + if I could use someone membership card as I won't pay £35 just to entitled me to get a ticket
We wouldn't be able to sit together
On boxing day 6 of us watched it at home .
I'm fu*ked if I know what it will be like going to a game in 10 years time

Is the guaranteed payout for tickets on the official ticket exchange new? I haven’t used it for a couple of years.

Funnily enough it’s the same in SSL3 there’s very few families up there and these are the cheap seats,I know maybe there’s a lot in the family stand but you’d think there would still be families dotted around, so it’s either old bastards or young lads in the twenties, now when they have kids they’ll struggle to get them on the ticketing ladder, but hey don’t forget those glorious CL nights when every fucker with a phine will be filming it buying a half and half scarf, but if we don’t qualify next year who’s filling those seats against Mongolia FC?

I feel exactly the same as many on here. Whilst I’m not on the verge of giving up my season ticket - I feel the only thing keeping me going is the social side of meeting pals on match day..

If I gave up my season ticket I’m not sure I would bother going for single games here and there.

The lack of any kind of buzz and sanitised atmosphere at games has killed my passion. Years of defending my club to rival fans over 115, non stop shit in the media for years but most of all feeling completely alienated by those running the club has taken its toll.

The success we’ve had should have seen nobody contemplating giving up season tickets but feel those running the club have managed to fuck it up.

Had a season ticket for over 10 years before moving for work down south 8 years ago, came back to Manchester 2 years ago but have zero interest of getting another one even if my son does pester me. The prices for the day out and sitting with a bunch of tourists is pretty grim. I was in the Colin Bell level 3 for the Madrid game and it was dire. Did Chelsea away last season and was so many tourists in the City end as well.

I’m only in my 30s and starting to feel alienated and pushed out!

We have a great group of a dozen of us lifelong Blues in 209 who gather for pre-match and half-time drinks. Our love for City is undiminished. When I sometimes get overseas fans sat nearby, I try to encourage them to join in with our chants. If they support City, that’s good enough for me.

Obviously, Club officials are making poor decisions that are alienating some fans and pricing out some Blues. I’m not sure the message gets through to the Sheikh and Khaldoon. For Example, sales for the Everton game would have been reported as a success story with tickets sales about 105% of capacity,
counting resold tickets twice. Flu bugs might be blamed for empty seats on match day etc.
