Have you ever been sent to prison or known someone who has or even visited people in prison?

I've just had a nephew who's been given 18 months and was wondering what it's gonna be like for him.

not good is all i can say... had an uncle who went away for 3 months a couple of years ago. said it was the worst time in his life

yes. i had a friend who got 12 months for affray. he was clearly schizophrenic, but he got no support whatsoever. the person he assaluted was his social worker (he was 24) and they were aware of the problems but stuck him in a prison regardless. he came out after 6 months and commited suicide not long after.

im sure whoever you know is not mentally ill, but it isnt easy.

ive got a mate doing life, got loads of friends that have/that are in prision, ive been to visit mates in Lancaster, preston, gartree prisions and young offenders prision in Lancaster...i need new friends...

2 sides to each tale though,

I had a mate, walking home from a pub, knocked to the ground unprovoked (CCTV proven) and died the next day. If the culprits, now behind bars off themselves from the 'trauma' of prison, I'll shed no tears.
