Open borders could only work if it was universal. It never will be, therefore it’s a non starter.

It is an interesting question. I suppose one answer could be to do with taxes. If we had no borders to whom would we pay taxes and where would we go for Health Care etc. I suppose tax would be less because with no borders there would be no need for expenditure on military forces.
