So I heard this being discussed on LBC radio yesterday and it got me thinking:

Nick Ferrari I think it was, kept asking: 'what happens if as border force approaches a boat of migrants, they threaten to (or do) jump into the sea?' well surely the border force vessel then rescues them and then takes them to France. Nobody suggested this - well if they did, I hadn't heard it, as I had to go to work.
wouldn't that rely on French authorities allowing UK Border Force vessels to dock with the expressed reason to off load migrants? If they say "non" what do they do? With hold payments to the French? Then the French just say "non" more often........we have painted ourselves into this corner

I’d assume that their visas would have been processed by the time they got to the relevant port and they could travel by boat or channel tunnel.
Then our lads speak a bit of German and the French wave us through?

Not really - if, to follow my argument through: UK border force approaches a dinghy with a view to pushing it back to France, but the occupants take to the water and are rescued & then the border force vessel then takes them to the nearest French beach or port, what would be so wrong with that? Sounds harsh for that specific group I know, but if it saves lives in the long-run.... that's good, yes?
If as you are hinting, the French tried to prevent that disembarkation (of desperate cold/wet people recently pulled from the channel), well who are the bad guys then? But it needs testing out, well it needed testing out about six months ago - as I said earlier: summer is almost over and the pandemic is hopefully on the decline - so all this stuff in the news the last couple of days, is just the same as all the other stuff: empty words.
Try being less serious all the time.
