The Home Office has since stated that this is not the case.

On the TV on Sunday it said 125 Ukranians had applied for asylum in Sweden since the invasion. These aren't people who've arrived from the Ukraine. These are people who were in Sweden when the invasion happened. There must be people in the UK in similar circumstances. Do they have to pick fruit to stay? Third country rules cannot be applied in these cases, surely.

She's correct, as are you with your second paragraph. The conversation should really be about whether we have a moral obligation to accept the very real risk of state agents ect concealing themselves among immigrant streams for the greater humanitarian good.
