Private Parking Fines

I got a parking fine in a shopping centre type car park in Stockport they want £60 within 5 days or it's increased to £100, now as I can't find anything relating it to the local council and it looks like a private firm can I just tell them to go swivel, I had only popped in to get change for parking and by the time I'd come back out it was there, any advice/tips to whether or not I should tell them I ain't paying or just ignore them?

I think the general consensus on this previously is not tell them anything, don't acknowledge them and they will eventually go away.

Have a search for the wheel clamping thread.

That is if you are SURE it is not a council parking ticket.

Thanks for the advice, I'm fairly sure it's not from the council as it doesnt have anything about Stockport council on it, just the name and address of issuing company and I have had my fair share of tickets over time, this one just looks like a fuckin kid drew it!

If you ring them on the number provided and say that you are not paying it as it is unenforceable they will leave you alone

Ignore it and ignore any letters that come to your house from the thieving bastards .

I'm sure that one's done by Europarks, I'm in a van, so have to park at Scratalan next door on the rare ocassions I have to go Argos or something, and am always careful when parking around there.

As a little side swipe, email the Leader of Stockport Council, tell him that you'll take your business to the Trafford Centre (free parking) until the council get rid of these private firms harming shoppers in Stockport. That's the reason I don't go to Stockport hardly at all now. There's no parking for vans, and any parking you can find is extortionate. I hate paying to park.

You could always post dog poo to the private parking company if you've got a movement coming? Just for y'know, moral victory.

Just ignore them.... and any subsequent letters make sure you lose them also
