Private plates

Capitalism has moved us forward. The industrial revolution was capitalism at its finest. Greed means people want the latest shiniest not needed toy not capitalism.

Why the oh so witty 'I'll wait' at the end ?

I presume you would be happy if we were all in danger of being buried in horse shit rather than the internal combustion engine being invented.
Riveting post but doesn't even touch on the point he was making you silly sod;-)

I don't drink alcohol mate.

So please explain to me how the capitalist business model of companies expecting you to buy EVERY shiny, new, next version of EVERYTHING, (which is now also designed to be obsolete just before it breaks and also has the added feature of being completely unfixable) isn't responsible, in a VERY large part, for the pollution we pump into the atmosphere, and ergo, the climate crisis?

I'll wait...,

You’re confusing consumerism with capitalism.

I don’t understand why some people are so angry and judgemental about private plates. If someone wants to spend their own money on a purely cosmetic thing then so what, it’s nobody else’s business. It’s no different than spending a load of money on a Gucci t-shirt instead of going to Primark and getting one for a quid.

(And no I don’t own a private plate, or want one.)
Cunts

Need a fucking slap

Interlinked. Capitalism IS greed (?) and WHAT has it moved us forward towards?

Buy, throw away, replace (and if we can somehow speed up the cycle that'd be great for the profit margins), and repeat ad infinitum, has caught up with them. Earth says no. Inertia takes care of making the world spin round, not money. But unfortunately we can't really turn the clock back and return to "happier" times when global horseshit outweighed global plastic/human detritus as technology only really advances (not accounting for cataclysmic level events).

Serious question, do you believe that they create and sell us things (that we only realise we want/need when we see them) for our advancement as a species?

I'd not say that altruism was one of the most common characteristics any powerful/wealthy people that I've ever met.

Oh, the (thanks for saying it was witty) "I'll wait" comment was because I believe that I am correct, and that it'd take you a long time to come back with a reasoned argument as to why I was wrong.

But it didn't take me long to respond although I nearly didn't because I knew you were so certain you were right, there was little point in responding.
