Pro Gay campaign in the Premeier League this weekend

The only problem in football is on the pitch. It's obvious that players don't want to come out due to the homophobia in the clubs themselves. Fans don't give a fuck as we all live in the real world where no one of consequence gives a fuck any more about someone's sexuality. It's the fucking players with their outdated views that are the problem.

If I was a footballer you wouldn't catch me dead with rainbow laces..why is it that to support the gay people they have to go over the top and request players wear pink shoes or rainbow laces? If your gay fine have fun with ur skittles laces but if your straight let them wear whatever..just my opinion

No one "should" do anything...

i love the way in this world we force people and companies to do things, well either that or they will be branded racists, homopobe etc...

why cant City just be a football club that welcomes all ? Easy to do, makes no fuss, singles no one out as a minority... everyones happy

Touched a nerve there, didn't I?

not at all.. you sound like every other boring mary whitehouse wanna be.. acceptance will ever be achived whilst people keep singling themselves out as different, thus throwing the biggest spanner in the works possible.

like i said before, just have a normal day.. let call it matchday, and say everyones welcome.. im sure you must agree that would arrive at the ultimate goal without and fuss.

or you could have a 20ft float on a parade in bright skyblue with a man screaming gays and lesbians all welcome, as if they ever wasnt.. then after that we can work on resolving other issues our club never had..

'Mary Whitehouse wanna be'? I've tried to work out what this means but I have no idea.

Anyway, I would be proud if our club had a float in Manchester, the most gay and lesbian accepting city in the country.

In total agreement with sniff on this. There will only be true equality and acceptance when sexuality is not an issue at all. As far as I'm concerned as long as any group needs a 'special day' then we have a problem. I'd prefer to do without the silly shoelaces and just put the cash into more stewards to throw out anyone indulging in bigoted chanting / behaviour. On the rare occasions I actually get to a game nowadays no one sat near me seems to be bothered about anyone's sexual preference, and down on the pitch I don't care if they are all trannys so long as they win. If there is a problem with homophobia in the dressing room then it needs to be nipped in the bud on the training ground, not dealt with on matchdays.

Apparently we're backing this right?

There's 29 clubs that have agreed to support Football v Homophobia, from BBC website:

Premier League: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Manchester City, Norwich, Sunderland, West Ham, West Brom
Championship: Birmingham, Blackburn, Doncaster, Huddersfield, Ipswich, Leicester, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday
League One: Carlisle, Crewe, Gillingham, Leyton Orient, MK Dons, Peterborough, Preston, Tranmere
League Two: Bristol Rovers, Exeter, Dagenham & Redbridge, Northampton
Correct at 18 March 2013

Manchester has one of the biggest Gay scenes in the world, I'm surprised the club aren't doing more to attract the Gay community into the Club.
Many big businesses based in the area were present with floats at this years Gay Parade.... MCFC were not.

MCFC are owned by a Muslim a religion that still considers being Gay as being a sin.

Massive attention seeking by stonewall seeking to be 'the same but different' in conjunction with the bastion of human rights that is paddy power. Nothing to see here - stick your silly shoe laces up your arse. This will all descend into a tabloid media witch hunt for gay and homophobic footballers based upon their choice of shoelaces. I resent having my club and the game I love hi-jacked in this way.
