Professional footballers just don't much care about us fans

They might do more at smaller, lower league, clubs but on the whole, players just aren't bothered what the fans think.

Don't get me wrong, they want our support and generally like playing in front of big crowds, but when it comes to caring about what effect anything they decide to do might have on us? No chance.

Every single player at City today would walk tomorrow for more money and a greater chance of success. The same is true of nearly every player at nearly every other club in the world.

Players might claim loyalty the fans, but when it comes down money and the chance of medals, forget it!

Professional footballers are the ultimate glory hunters.

Its their jobs, would you give a shit if the company over the road doubled your wages?

To be fair there are some footballers I wouldn't make time for or give 2 shits about in our team for that matter only as long as the win us games, but players like:

Pab Zab
Big Nige
Vinnie Komp
Jimmy Milner

I genuinely think these players care about the club (I get the impression from Milner from the way he reacts after and before games)

true of 90% of our squad, however certain there are individuals, de jong for example that really love the club. watch him at the end of every game and every interview he is a hero. would make him our captain me

could'nt agree more mate.

couldnt disagree more.

de jong wants the club to do well, but he doesnt love the club, no players do. when it comes down to it, not all of the 47k on saturday will truely love the club

they want the money, the adoration and the good press coverage they also want to play for the biggest, most famous clubs as possible as that usually means they get more money, adoration and press coverage. As for us, the fans, some care and some don't.

Should they?

I imagine plenty do feel some sort of moral obligation to try their best on the pitch, i know i would. However obviously their prime motivation is to look after themselves, and given it's their career, their chosen profession, then that's perfectly reasonable.

They want to retire with the most medals fella. The money will follow as the biggest clubs pay the most and win the most medals, whatever the country.

The only one club wonders I can think of are:

John Terry, Stevie Gerrard, Scholes, G Neville, Giggs, Matt Le Tissier

Anyone else?

Interesting that Neville (the twat - sorry, it's obligatory) said recently that he's taken the decision to retire because he personally felt he was becoming a passenger. That's rare in pro football. Look at Danny Mills FFS!

I agree that Matt le Tiss in particular was a example of aplayer who put club loyalty first, but he was a very much an exception.
