Professional footballers just don't much care about us fans

They might do more at smaller, lower league, clubs but on the whole, players just aren't bothered what the fans think.

Don't get me wrong, they want our support and generally like playing in front of big crowds, but when it comes to caring about what effect anything they decide to do might have on us? No chance.

Every single player at City today would walk tomorrow for more money and a greater chance of success. The same is true of nearly every player at nearly every other club in the world.

Players might claim loyalty the fans, but when it comes down money and the chance of medals, forget it!

Professional footballers are the ultimate glory hunters.
I didnt know that...thanks. ;)

To be honest its not about the players, when I started going in 74 all the players from that season are gone and mostly forgotten, its about the club and the fans not the players. The Bells & Youngs are looked at differently in regards to the money man of today.

yep..players are like human skin, they come and go (flake off) but the body ( the club) remains...
just look at the palm of your hand..the skin on it wasnt there 3 months ago..but its still your hand.
weird analogy i know,but true.

true of 90% of our squad, however certain there are individuals, de jong for example that really love the club. watch him at the end of every game and every interview he is a hero. would make him our captain me

could'nt agree more mate.
Listen guys, as much as I love de Jong , do u honestly think after 2 years here he loves the club and the fans? It's just the way nige is, if he signed for chelsea tomorrow he would be exactly the same. Players have no loyalty to any teams any more and I am comfortable with that

They have never had.

Them days went a long time ago.
This week we lost one of the true players that grew up a blue and enjoyed every single second playing for City;
R.I.P. Neil Young.

Rubbish, its not that long ago that players did care for the club and its fans, sadly stupid money saw an end to it, it was dressed up as a new thing, they called it the Premier League in this country, its should be known as the greed league, the only thing that should matter to the fans now is the club, the players, managers, executives and owners will come and go, but the club and fans remain.

Unfortunately that's the way it is. If it wasn't for the money that has been pumped into City over the last 5 years we'd probably be struggling around about the relegation zone now or mid table at best. We can have loyal players but it doesn't change the fact some loyal players are shit and some aren't, would you rather have a crap loyal player or a world class one who doesn't a shit but does the job.

The whole loyal player thing is a myth nowadays, it's all about the money and that goes for every single player in top flight football. Tevez being the biggest prime example, he left United for us.. Basically a cardinal sin as far as any rivalry is concerned but he doesn't care about the rivalry he plays for himself. He just happens to be one of the best players in the world hence why we bought him. As long as he sticks the goals in no-one really cares.

Why didn't Colin Bell stay at Bury then or Mike Summerbee at Swindon if players from a past era were so loyal.

Also why did Billy Meredith transfer from us to United the minute his ban was up if players from a past era were so loyal?

This is actually true. I am good friends with a couple of Championship players and a former player. They all think fans are absolute idiots who take football too seriously.
