Professional footballers just don't much care about us fans

They might do more at smaller, lower league, clubs but on the whole, players just aren't bothered what the fans think.

Don't get me wrong, they want our support and generally like playing in front of big crowds, but when it comes to caring about what effect anything they decide to do might have on us? No chance.

Every single player at City today would walk tomorrow for more money and a greater chance of success. The same is true of nearly every player at nearly every other club in the world.

Players might claim loyalty the fans, but when it comes down money and the chance of medals, forget it!

Professional footballers are the ultimate glory hunters.

Any of or players would be just as happy playing for United Arsenal Chelsea Spurs or any top Euopean clubs.

Actually I’m feed up with this stupid talk that’s its all about the money.

Ignorant and small minded.

So footballers aren’t humans? Doesn’t care about their social situation. Don’t care about achieving goals and win trophies? Challenge themselves (like for an example, win trophies in a bunch of leagues). Don’t want to something new and change environment from time to time.

No, no, they would do absolutely anything for a couple of bucks more...

This is actually true. I am good friends with a couple of Championship players and a former player. They all think fans are absolute idiots who take football too seriously.

I would say your friends are being a bit extreme.

I suppose some do feel that way, but I think most enjoy playing in front of big crowds ( although I knew one lad, who everyone tipped to be a star player, that was physically sick before any big game he was that nervous - he never did conquer the stress element and gave up professional football because of it).

I know an ex player and he describes city fans as "very patient" compared to fans of other clubs he has played for.

It's easy for Giigs, Neville (the twat) & Scholes to stay at the rags, as they have been successful for a long period of time. It may have been different if they were struggling in the lower leagues.

One player who always comes to mind though is Steve Bull at Wolves. A great player for them.

I don't know why we expect footballers to be any different to the rest of us. I don't recall 'loving' any of my employers, though some were better than others, and I was always looking for the next step up. I did my job to the best of my ability and respected the 'customers' but I knew that my employers would ditch me like an old shoe the minute it suited them. Can we really ask more than that of professional footballers?

In the old days the likes of Neil Young, God bless him, grew up in the shadow of Maine Road, was a fan, loved the club and never wanted to leave. The club dumped on him the minute they decided someone else would be better. So it always was and so it always will be, except nowdays few former fans get to play for City and the sums of money involved are inflated out of all proportion. Loyalty cuts both ways.

The only one club wonders I can think of are:

John Terry, Stevie Gerrard, Scholes, G Neville, Giggs, Matt Le Tissier

Anyone else?

If Terry started at Wolves he would have left them... They are already at big clubs so why move..... Not Le Tessier offcourse
