I'd say this was punk..

To be fair, you're right. This song was considered punk by myself and my friends.
I still have my box full of 7" singles from back then and this is in it.
It is also the only piece of Queens music that I have ever owned.

Edit* Same goes for Blondie. They started off as a punk band and then morphed into something completely different.
I still have my 12" single version of Denis, which contains, on the B side, the best song they ever made (IMO),

We used to go to a church youth club/disco on Ashton rd. that decided to stop playing punk as it attracted,
"wrong uns".
We all started pogoing to Baker street in protest.
