I'm puzzled. Is this an Alien prequel or not?

I adore the first two films.

how original - an english baddie!!!

looks like 100 films i have seen before.

Have you even seen Alien before?

Not sure you know what this films is...

i take it it is a prequel to aliens. the guy doing the speech is obviously the bad guy, that is how these films work. iirc the robot in the first alien film was ian holm, and english speaking robot with maniacal tendencies. in the second one the robot was american speaking and a hero. therefore english accent = bad guy, i have seen it all before and i know that this formula will not be changed as it does upset the amricans so to see an american bad guy! they are the heroes.

in the 2nd one the android was decent, yeah, but the same character in real form was Lance Henriksen who's like the biggest anti-hero in the entire series!

Still pisses me off that Fincher (who I'm a big fan of) kills off Hicks & Newt within 30 seconds of Alien3.

i thought it was a terrible film and I'd have happily punched his and everyone else involved's lights out.

that's when the whole series went stupid, I hope 19 years later Scott can revitalise it.

In fairness to Fincher he has completely disowned the film as he hates it that much. Studio interference basically destroyed the film he was trying to make. Shame really because it has potential to be decent.

That trailer is stupidly good and has me looking forward to this almost as much as Dark Knight Rises. With this, DKR, The Avengers and The Hobbit all this year, it should be a good one for films.

if the studio doesn't interfere, then Scott knows what's he doing with the franchise and it has a decent cast, hope its good, the Predator reboot was ok but I hope the Alien one is back to its roots.

Wasnt Fincher's fault that
Fox totally ran the show, so much in fact Fincher disowned the film
If you have Blu-Ray get The Alien Anthology box set, there is a 3 hour documentary on Alien 3 called Wreckage And Rampage and shows how much Fox messed up on it, so much in fact im surprised Fox even put the documentary in the box set

Fair enough. I didn't know that.

To be fair, the assembly cut was better than the original. However, the CGI was beyond shit.

One of the few things I did like about it, though, was the score. One of the best of the series, imo.

Let's hope Scott has still got it.

This is a prequel to Alien, the premise is that the "Space Jockey" are a race that seeded the Galaxy with intelligent life .i.e. humans. They leave clues to get to their planet and when humans become intelligent enough they make their way to the Space Jockey home world. If you watch the trailer you will notice that there are loads of columns in a room very similar to the way the eggs in the original Alien film are when they first encounter the deserted Space Jockey ship, so it's rumoured the Space Jockey therefore created the Aliens.
