Prominent Tax Dodgers revealed in leaked documents

Anyone else find it surprising that the Taxpayers Alliance - normally so vocal when they think taxpayers are being ripped off - are so totally silent on this wholesale theft by the rich and powerful?

The chief Taxpayers Alliance troll Urmston is normally frothing at the mouth with indignation at any perceived short-changing of the public purse. Why so silent now?
The Taxpayers Alliance had someone on 5Live earlier.

They also had a phone in regarding tax dodging. Some bloke said that we all do it. He made the perfectly reasonable example of someone making some money on a car boot sale and then not lettingthe taxman know what they'd earned. Yep, perfectly reasonable that, and exactly the same thing as hiding tens of billions offshore.

He was also completely fucking wrong!
If you sell off your own stuff at a car boot it's fuck all to do with HMRC and does not need declaring.

And I remember that Revenue Compliance teams used to go the car boot sales and noted regular stalls to establish whether the people involved were carrying out a "business". A very lucrative exercise, I was told. As for offshore bank accounts, the overtime budget didn't stretch to trips to the Caribbean, I'm afraid!

I think it's obvious that people are getting totally pissed of with the politicians now, there is a bigger stench of corruption than ever before.

Just watching the headlines on the news you would think Cameron was on the breadline, he said he as a salary as prime minister some savings and rent from his house and thats all he has.

Does he really believe that is true because i dont, you can see something like this bringing him down.

By the way "some savings" fuck me i bet it's not a coupe of hundred quid in the co-op is it.

Some savings - probably several million daddy left him that he managed to save when it should have been paid as tax.

Can someone please tell me what's wrong with Cameron being worth millions? We still live in a country where you can be made to feel guilty for having money passed down to you. I wish my fucking dad had left me a few million in an offshore account.

I'm stunned this has made such a splash - does anyone genuinely not think that multi millionaires stash money offshore? Christ, I'd do the same if I was worth millions.

There are hundreds of Tax avoidance schemes being run in the UK via some of these countries (mainly Isle of Man) - The people behind these schemes are City Lawyers, Barristers and Govt MP's (not just Tories)- There was a similar report on EBT schemes which rumoured to be run by some Labour and Tory ministers - massive scam - What people won't admit is that the HMRC & Central Govt dare not go after these as they are shit scared of the legal costs of taking them through the courts.

HMRC are trying to go after the users of these schemes which is easier for them where the bulk of the money lies with the owners

All govt MPs are Tories.

All other MPs are the opposition and not in government.

I think you knew what crystal_mais meant, but since we are splitting hairs, not all other non-government MPs are in opposition. Ministers are considered part of the government; back-benchers from the same party aren't.

Again, you are picking out minor technicalities rather than addressing the point. Selling your possessions at a car boot sale is nothing to do with HMRC as you quite rightly say, but many people trade tat at these events for a living, and HMRC are interested in these people.

The point malg (or the radio phone-in caller he referred to) made is that most people avoid or even evade tax. How many people can honestly say they have never bought cheap imported fags or booze, or paid a accepted a tradesman's offer of discount for cash?
