Prostate cancer

Cheers, this thread made me make the call. Have at least 6 symptoms - blood in semen, struggling to get erection, stop/start urine flow, having to get up to go middle of night almost every night, drips when think had finished and already washed hands, thinking at times not doing to make toilet on time as need to go asap, weak flow plus I'll be 60 soon. Bloods booked for Wednesday morning GP appointment for examination next Monday and need to drop off urine sample
About the age profile, after 50 usually, you’ve definitely made the right call. Hopefully it’s not developed and they just keep you under observation, anything else and there’s a lot they can do for you. @A57 the snake, your words may have saved the life of a fellow blue by starting this thread, good on you pal.

Started getting blood in my wee about 8 yrs ago and ignored it for a year,i then mentioned it to my partner and she made me go to the GP.
After tests scans and a camera up the japs eye i was diagnosed with bladder cancer,
I don`t wish that moment you are told on anyone.
After rounds of chemo i had to have my bladder, prostate, seminal sacs and lymph nodes removed luckily the tumour had not spread outside my bladder but it was on the last layer of it.
I had the choice of a bag or having a new bladder made from part of my bowel,i opted for the neobladder made with some of my bowel...8 hour op and 6 weeks in hospital and now 6 yrs clear.
Have had issues with the new bladder such as sepsis because it wasnt emptying properly another 3 days in hospital, but now self catheterise every few days and its fine, other problems are no erection,no sperm and have to wear pads in bed.

So to any one worried about a little examination ..it`s nothing to what it could be.
GET CHECKED.

My pal had the camera down the japs eye when he had bleeding in his bladder due to his prostate cancer. When he was telling me (was in Stepping Hill) i had a real horrible sensation in my nether region, had to cross my legs, that’s some ordeal you’ve been through, glad you made it!

I wish the insurance companies would lower that age to 40 for colon, prostate screening, I’m hearing more and more stories of people getting them at a younger age. People shouldn’t worry about the ‘embarrassment’ you have nothing unique and nothing that a Doc or Nurse hasn’t seen a lot.

My mum used to say:

“you leave your dignity on the doorstep when going in hospital”

Too right, when you get that cape on before an op and your bollocks are on show.

My Doc is a very pretty young woman, every year I just strip off and have her check out whatever I can get away with. She knows I’m just an old perv and reminds me every year that testicular cancer is almost always in younger men as she has them in her hands. I assure her that better safe than sorry

Genuinely made me laugh that!
