Prostate cancer

Scary how your life changes in a heartbeat. Had a few issues since earlier this year just thought it was a bladder stone maybe? Had a ct scan then tuesday attended Hospital for a cystoscopy to find out I have an ugly looking tumour in my bladder giving me the finger... So have to have a TURBT in the next 2 weeks.. Very optimistic its early but ifanyone else has gone through that treatment I'd like to hear.
Hope all goes well for you.

7 years ago i had bladder cancer after ignoring passing blood for a long time i eventually told a doctor who then sent me for tests including biopsy up the japs eye.
Consultant told me before starting 6 rounds of chemo i had 60/40 chance of surviving, after finishing chemo i went into hospital to have my bladder removed along with my prostate, lympth nodes, and seminal sacs.
I was lucky as the tumour was on the last layer of my bladder and had not spead out and was contained.
I had a choice of having a stoma bag or a neo bladder made which is made by taking a section of your bowel and made into a small bladder,i opted for the neo bladder has i did`nt fancy a bag.
Anyway a 8 hour op and six weeks in hospital, had a few issues getting used to the new bladder, caught a sepsis a couple of years ago through the neck closing up on the new bladder and not emptying so had an op to open it up, so now self cathetrise every morning to make sure i empty properly and keep the neck of the bladder from closing up...have to sit down to piss and wear pads at night but still here and kicking cancer free.

So anyone passing blood don`t wait like i did get checked they have seen and done it all nothing to be embarrassed about, catch it early the easier the treatment.

Good luck mate.

I know someone who had what sounds like something very similar. His was caught very early and was 2mm in size!!
He was back in work two days later so fingers crossed you’ll be up and out nice and quickly and it will soon be a distant memory

A relative of mine went through similar during covid. Lots of UTIs and treatment that wasnt working. Ended up with a bad UTI that became full on Sepsis. Was hospitalised during a covid lock down so very scary and hospital was under pressure - the NHS went through awful times. Had a scope procedure that found a tumour and was removed. Lots of follow ups and all good now, no radiotherepy but it was the option if they found anything else.

Cheers mate . Glad to hear you are still in there and doing good 7 years on. You are spot on about not ignoring bleeding when you pee.
I was abroad when it first happened, and I blamed it on being really dehydrated. I was wrong.

Yes, I’ve had this twice once a long time ago and once about five years ago. As you say there is a local anaesthetic so it wasn’t particularly painful. Got an infection after the second one but it cleared up quickly with antibiotics.
Had it a couple of weeks ago ,not too painful. Worst bit was lying down with all your bits out waiting for it to happen. Consultant said to think of sitting on a beach in the sun. All i could think of was good job his female assistant was a munter!
