Prostate cancer

Glad you're ok mate, I don't know if you remember Paul Rodgers (was on the bus away at Forest wearing an Hawaiian vest, every time he stood up all the lads sang the Hawaii 50 theme tune), he was diagnosed with incurable PC in Feb 2015, it had already spread to his pelvis, he's still with us, at the match yesterday and we're on a Christmas bash at Uttoxeter races this Friday. Same diagnosis as Chris Hoy, there's hope out there, just got to believe.
Yeah Hammo you’ve mentioned him before Paul is an inspiration to what you can overcome or adapt to
I didn’t realise you know Dave Barnes another inspiration to us all
Enjoy your do on Friday steer clear of any old nags with the slightest link to our club lol

I think they don't want to find more to treat or further examine. Waiting for symptoms is deliberately avoiding the psa test.
It's not as though it needs another blood sample taking.
My 6 monthly blood check includes psa together with lipid profile etc in the same small tube and water check.
Sorry I'm out of date RE UK procedures. Here in Spain anything psa wise over 4.0 is referred to hospital for further investigation. In my case several years ago I had a biopsy for PC followed by radiotherapy. Now on yearly check but my other hospital and doctor checks are haematology and my normal general health check both of which include a psa check.

I am told my now low psa readings will require further hospital checks if they rise above 2.0. Theoretically it should stay low but who knows with cancer so they check me regularly even at my advanced age.

Known Barney for a good few years, he's doing really well, he's recovered from a recent hernia op, top lad, him and Michael Forest always do a PC day at Ashton Golf Club, anyone is welcome to join, it'll be May/June next year.

Yeah Barney was telling me all about it a few months back been mates for over 30 years not seen him this season but I’m sure him and his lad have a season ticket in SSL3 near me. I’ve stopped boozing in the ground at HT so not been down to the bar recently where I used to see him. He moved from Bridge with my Rag Brother in law both were neighbours up Arlies now both live near the Royal George in Mossley or Greenfield as they both like to claim lol

Definitely Mossley!!

I`ve thought long and hard before deciding to post this.

I went to the Churchill Unit at Bolton Royal to find out my results after the MRI and CT scans which followed on from the Prostate Biopsy. My bone scan was clear but as well as finding 8 out of 24 biopsies positive for Cancer I had a lesson on one of my kidneys and something on my lung.

The doctor told me that because of all my ongoing medical problems she feel if I had radiotherapy or hormone therapy I would either not survive the operation or would in fact make my quality of life worse than it is now.

I have a chesty cold at the moment which is getting on my nerves but I have no pain apart from the pain City are causing us all.

I also have a long list of stuff going on besides, so this is just a warning to get checked out as early as you can, especially for the over 50`s. I wish you all the best of luck and ffs come on City.
Sending love and hugs xx

So sorry to hear about the additional issues, it never rains but it pours eh!

It's only last week we were discussing your way forward and out of the PSA situation, I don't know what to say.

Take care and do your best to keep your chin up.

Phil

Thanks Phil, I`m not in any pain from the Prostate, Kidney or the lung,
Sending love and hugs xx

Thanks Kaz

I was out today for yomp over the tops with a few of the lads Glossop over to hayfield via rowarth six miles nothing to difficult and was brought up we’ve raised £8,500 for prostate cancer uk in our fundraising walks over last couple of years so we’ve decided to do one more in the spring to get to £10,000 so we’ll be doing the walk in the spring I’ll post details near the time but it’d be great to put some faces to user names if anyone fancies this , if you’re not up for the walk then come and have drink in the afternoon, as I say I’ll post the route details nearer the time , more than likely do the snake summit (pass over exposed) over bleaklow down into old Glossop

Can’t do the walk due to narcosis of the hips but I’ll try and meet up

Your not on your own I’m going through something similar myself I’ve opted not to have chemotherapy and opted for self ?? forgot what it’s called but blood tests and scans instead, the specialist was in agreement, fingers crossed for us all going through the similar thing.

My BIL had the radiotherapy and hormones and it didn’t suit him, I think your wise to do what you think is best for you especially when you’ve got other health issues going on, hope you managed to enjoy Xmas day we are nearly into New year and spring will soon be here again :) after this endless wet 2024 which might be affecting the team it’s never stopped raining.

Thanks mate I’m 71 and enjoy myself from 32 to 56 only working a maximum of 20 hours a week in my own business so I can’t complain.
