Protest v Wolves

If you are waiting for seasoncards, note in the announcement that it says, "Cityzens Matchday Members will also be offered the opportunity to purchase a Flexi-Gold Season Ticket, subject to qualifying criteria and availability".

Therefore, make sure you are paid-up but they should clarify what is meant by availability. I think it's a bit out of order to imply this without making it clear how many seasoncards will be released, oherwise fans could buy up City memberships this season with little chance of seeing a game, and then it could be all for nothing.

I am sure that the club has plans for how many seasoncards they intend to release and I am wondering why they haven't given a figure. It makes me think that it's going to be trivial.

Not gone through the while thread, as I am non-match going fan as a personal choice, but over the last few years I've taken the kids to FA Cup games etc when it's kids for a fiver.

When I realised I had to pay £35 .....just for the privilege of being able to buy any ticket......I fucked it off completely.

Club is a pisstake.

I reckon I’ll have attended 15 this season but whichever I miss I make sure I pass it onto my friends n family and worst case scenario, sell it on using ticket exchange.

Sometimes I miss due to work commitments. In the past I couldn’t make it due to caring for my mum. Other times the weather may have been that shite, I just couldn’t make it due to living up in Saddleworth.

Will they accept a letter from my employer should I be called in due to an emergency. Feel like I’m going back to bloody school with these little Hitlers in charge.

As long as my seat gets filled by either friends or family or sold on ticket exchange, what’s the fecking issue??!

My lad is off to university in September, and obviously doesn’t want to give up his ticket. Whether or not he’ll be able to make it back ten times a season on a student budget remains to be seen. This stinks from the club. They’re deliberately trying to oust out more and more season ticket holders.

The 16/19 thing is that you have to either attend a game, place your seat on the exchange or transfer to friends and family (which the club have put tighter restrictions on in order to force more people to buy memberships).

However you do have to attend 10 of those 16 times in person, which is a dramatic change in the club’s policy and will make things extremely difficult for people who eg. share season tickets with more than one other person. There are suggestions on here that that 10/19 attendance will be enforced with facial recognition technology, which would be dystopian even by the recent standards of the club, though i have no idea how true that is (one poster suggested that United already do it)

A right ten games is fair but still don't think it's right the other 9 games you can't give it a mate who has no membership!

Am surprised the club not come out and say we doing this for security reasons because we need to know who is coming through the doors!

Tone deaf from the club with the enforcement of the 10 games attended in person (I’m of the flexi-gold peasantry so had to anyway) as it will disproportionately affect the more working-class fans than it will anyone else (shift workers, NHS workers, forces, those acting as carers for others and plenty, plenty more) & any out of towners especially for mid-week matches

Here’s the kick off-times we’ve had this season:-

Saturday 12:30pm - Crystal Palace

Saturday 3pm - Ipswich, Brentford, Fulham, Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle, Brighton

Saturday 5:30pm - Spurs

Sunday 4:30pm - Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Liverpool

Sunday 7pm - Bournemouth

Tuesday 8pm - Aston Villa

Wednesday 7:30pm - Nottingham Forest

Wednesday 7:45pm - Leicester

Thursday 12:30pm - Everton (Boxing Day)

Friday 8pm - Wolves

AND we’ve been fortunate enough to have a fair few Saturday 3pms this season compared to recent years. You can almost wave goodbye to Saturday 3pms if we end up in the Europa League & wave hello to considerably more Monday nights.

I can see why the club want to do it & it would be fair enough if football was 3pm on a Saturday every week; it’s far from that nowadays.

So control no shows. If you can't attend you need to transfer your ticket to someone else or list it on the exchange.
As far as I understood it you can go to 10 games and transfer to up to 3 different people. I don't have a problem with that. It's the seasoncard availability that has not been made clear. And given that we will have 8000 new seats next season, that makes me think that City are planning for a limited release. There are no waiting list arrangements just a vague suggestion that you need to be a Cityzen Match-day member to be eligible. That's not enough information.

That is what the announcement is proposing.

,
Sharing season cards in families will almost certainly still be doable with work arounds.

City would take account of caring responsibilities in any decision.

Some of the people advocating season card holders can do what they want with their season cards rightly slated the club for letting JCLs get tickets over loyal match day Members for the Madrid semi final. There’s only so much wanting your cake and eating it.
Its a good point. So my 15 yr old and 12 yr old kids have season tickets with me. I also have 2 foster children who don't have season tickets.
All 3 season tickets are in my wallet so unless the club implement facial recognition or strict id checks on entry then how will they know which child is using my daughters ticket on entry whwn she cannot attend?
Workarounds are always there. I will be ok with the 10 game personal criteria, but got in before the season ticket draw bridge was well amd truly closed. I will be 100% standimg in unison with my fellow blues with the protestbut I hope and pray the fan base does not divide on this issue. Manchester City is our club, not people who only have a financial interest. The club need to engage with fans not alienate. I am going to share an email I sent to City earlier in the season regarding the attendance policy and fair play they were brilliant and.waived the attendan ce policy. What happens moving forward?? Does illness not get taken into account, shift work, working away etc?

Another circumstance the club doesn't seem to care for, it's getting hard to be a match going fan.

The club should be cultivating our younger fan base.

ST holders under 21 should be exempt from the 10 game rule imo. Can’t expect young children to get to midweek games if they have to be up for school etc. Or older kids at Uni who live away.

"Season Ticket Members will be able to select up to three City fans who can receive their transferred tickets without requiring a membership.

All other recipients will be required to have an active, paid membership to help ensure our tickets are being used by other City supporters"

Student railcard. I never missed a home game in 9 years of studying but I stayed local.

I am concerned about your last point. They say they will release new seasoncards but the capacity is going up to 62k so why haven't they made an announcement on numbers? That suggests that it will be a trivial number. That's exactly what Liverpool did. They released 1,000 season tickets. That is what I think we should be wary of

Not sure why TV companies can’t split the 10 PL games each weekend and have 5 played on a Saturday at 12.30 and the other 5 at 5.15pm. Oh yes it’s because they want live games in isolation for their viewing figures and selling rights. If every teams’ fans boycotted en masse all games one weekend and games were played in empty stadiums maybe just maybe they might to consider the match going fan. 10 different kick off times this season just for our home and a Monday is the only day we haven’t played a home game. We can’t organise anything in advance as we never know days and kick off times until six weeks prior although in the case of the Bournemouth game it’s around four weeks notice and even that may change. And the club want a SC holder to attend at least 10 matches. Have they never heard of illness, shifts, no transport home etc.

Exactly this. Make it 19/19 in terms of resale for all I care if it's about making sure the seat is taken and not empty.

The 10 game policy has nothing to do with no shows. It's to weed out SC holders and turn to match by match tickets

Those arguing it's fine are either too thick to see that so keep falling back on "no show" argument or they have a bee in their bonnet and think there are thousands of touts holding 10 cards each

Let's entertain that, once those SC are removed from said touts, they won't be back in the pot for new SC holders will they...?

Starting to think some are on the WUM, others just exposing their first order thinking and bias

The attend / exchange rule was brought in because of empty seats. The restriction on family and friends was brought in to beat touts.

I cannot see any logic in insisting that the card holder attends 10 games in person other than to lever them out of their seat.

And who will be levered out of those seats?

Shift workers, parents (let's face it, women), old people, sick people, students, carers....

All those who are likely to not be able to make evening / midweek matches especially in the winter months.

Am I missing something or is this just really, really badly thought out (or deviously manipulative on the part of the club)?

Hi all,

I thought I’d share my unique perspective on all this. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 16 years and have been on all three cup schemes during those seasons. I’ve attended every home game with my dad for those 16 years and potentially missed no more than 2 home games per season due to work commitments etc. as of last month I’ve recently married my lovely wife and we’ve agreed to go travelling from August to January for our honeymoon, therefore it would not be possible for me to attend 10 home games next season as I am away. I was planning on giving my season ticket to my mum so she can attend games with my dad so the seat would never be empty. Once I’m back from travelling in January I would carry on attending every game as usual. Feels extremely harsh that I would lose my season ticket as I’ve decided to travel for 4.5 months when this might be the only opportunity I get to do this in my life. I’m absolutely gutted as I feel going to the games with my dad is something I will always remember forever and feel having it’s so important for my mental health and I shouldn’t have to pick a season ticket or the opportunity to have a 4.5 month travelling career break? I’ve never felt so disconnected from this club.
Ask your mum to download your season ticket to her phone ahead of next season then delete it and add it back to your phone on your return. That way the ticket gets used and you’ll hit the 10 game criteria.

They are going too far. What was once a pleasure is now becoming a chore and I'm starting to feel resentful against the club. It's created a real us and them feeling. It feels like they hate us and we are in some kind of industrial dispute with them instead of supporting a football club we've loved for years. What other leisure activity takes your money in advance for their services and then dictates how and when you have to attend? Will we have to.provide sick notes next if we are ill and can't go? Is what they're doing even legal?
This is obviously the reaction they want so season ticket holders say fuck it and give up. They can then flog matchday tickets to the highest bidder, that will probably be the next move. Enter a ballot to bid for a ticket starting bids £80.
The disconnect grows.
