Protest v Wolves

They listened

Fair play to the protesters & the club

Cancel the 6 minutes tomorrow, i’ll still be late to my seat though, like every game
Great timing by the club.... remember blues it's about more than a few season tickets.

DO NOT LET THEM DIVIDE AND CONQUER.

Confirmation that the majority of the additional General Admission seat capacity, resulting from the expansion of the North Stand for the 2026/27 season, will be dedicated to Season Ticket Members
Good news. Probably better news than the Season Ticket price freeze.

Still work to be done though.

The 10-game personal attendance rule should not have been put in place (sometimes things happen which just stops people being able to attend, even for just a short period of time: severe illness, having a baby, having to work away… temporary things which across decades of having a ST is a small period of time where someone can’t attend, yet will see them have their ST taken off them).
Matchday tickets need to have a greater range of pricing, with lower prices for different parts of the ground (like the very front rows of Level 1 and the very back rows of Level 3, more reasonable mid-band pricing for behind the goal… £71-88 for Villa last week, £61-78 for Wolves tomorrow are just too much, they’re either expensive or very expensive, with the cheapest adult ticket there being the same price as Liverpool’s most expensive adult ticket).
Matchday tickets need to be much much cheaper for children. They are, on average, 413% more expensive than the average price of children’s tickets at United and Liverpool.
The amount of non-City fans and fans of the away team or an away player in the City stands needs addressing, for the safety of them, Blues, children and to stop people getting banned for reacting to their incitement.
Ticket prices for Cup games need to be announced much earlier than they are, have set prices for each round and phase, reïntroduce bundle pricing for Cul games, (Inter and Madrid tickets were far too expensive, they weren’t even in the KO Stage, money for the Feyenoord game was announced as being taken from our banks accounts the day before).

Among a number of other issues… but things are moving in the right direction.

Well done to everyone involved so far from the club for taking on board fans’ grievances, to City Matters reps, to fans groups like 1894 and MCFC Foodbank Support, to everyone who joined in with the 9-minute protest against Leicester and the demonstration against Villa.

Still work to be done though.

Is that more season tickets - as in letting others from around the ground move there?

It’s very vague in my opinion
They've also said in that statement 50% of them will go to Junior Citezens who have a relative with a normal season ticket, which raises lots of other questions.

It seems to me it's an effort to placate the protesting fans. Like I said we need to wait and see what actually happens.

I know a lot of avid City fans who have given up trying to go. I know lots of other ones desperate to go but might get 0,,1 or 2 Premier League matches a season. However it can't be right that you can pay more to attend 12 matches than a season ticket holder in the same seat?

I hadn't realised our season ticket base had been so eroded. I knew it had gone from 42k to 38k.

However both Spurs and Liverpool have 25k season tickets. No idea about Chelsea or Arsenal, and Utd used to have 52k.

I've always felt City might have too many season ticket holders, "you're either in or out" - This started when the Kippax was seated and has festered for years. We had 14k season ticket holders before and it jumped to 26k after. That meant about 500-1000 tickets went on open sale each week after you had taken corps, comps and away fans out. It became a joke trying to get a ticket if you weren't a season ticket holder.

Moving to the new stadium opened up more season tickets, but we'd already lost tens of thousands of regular supporters.

I've always thought there should be a 1/3 and a 1/2 season ticket where you get 6 or 9 matches. For a lot of fans that would let them show their support but allow them to do other things with their life. It would mean each home game meant more (ie more atmosphere and stayed until the end) and more people would get a slice of the action.

The current system of season ticket holders getting the cheapest tickets and priority over new supporters really sucks and stifles the growth of the club.

At the end of the day there are probably well over 100,000 in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire who would go every week if they could, and they're never going to fit into a stadium holding 50k-60k. That's just in the immediate vicinity.

IMHO the whole thing needs a complete rethink. I've been banging on about this for years but most season ticket holders don't get it and don't care "I've done my time so I'm entitled"

This is one of the reasons why I really don't understand the protest and those protesting because they (including me) are part of the problem.

@Alex - City Matters
Well done on your role in getting the new tickets available.
One thing that I don't believe has been communicated at any point is the 'punishment' for not attending the 10 games personally or 16 games in total.
Has that ever been discussed during meetings?
It should be clear before people purchase season tickets because that will be a deciding factor for some I imagine.

Shouldn't really make any difference for next season but would potentially affect people the following season, so still some time to work on that issue.

It’s difficult to not support the team for the first six minutes when Pep has said we need your help. Not as if we have nothing to play for.

6 minutes?

I don’t think not supporting City for 6 minutes is difficult.

Give the team more support in the remaining 84 minutes + injury time.

It dies because if someone can only attend 8 home games next year, they don't know if that means they will have their season ticket completely removed. In which case, they would be better getting a flexi so they could keep some form of season ticket

Couldn't he/she just keep his/her regular ST next season and then apply for a flexi gold the following season when the new NS opens and there will be thousands more flexis up for garbs?

It reads to me that of the extra tickets available due to the NS expansion, over half will be STs.

It was always the Club’s intention to release new Season Tickets as part of the expansion of the North Stand. Whilst the seating configuration of the stand is yet to be finalised, we can confirm that it will be predominantly GA seating and that the majority of the additional GA seating capacity will be held by Season Ticket Members, through the release of new Season Tickets.
It was always going to be predominantly GA seating. That much was evident in the PA. And always has been. Only the first few rows were GA+. That is absolutely nothing new. Yet the directors are making out they are doing something positive and have listened to the fans. It’s nothing but spin.

I can find the seating plans and CGI’s from the PA showing the majority of the seating is GA. I will post it tomorrow.

I leave unapologetically early on night matches because of our archaic transport system, injury time would have to be fucked off.

Saying that I am sure tomorrow will be a clean game with no injury time at all so it'll be all good :)

That's not the main point at all. As you say, we all knew that. The main point (to me at least) is that the majority of the new GA seating will be ST holders.

Exactly. All agreed by the directors before the meeting. Then put out as a favourable outcome from the meeting.

From making the City Matters Reps wait weeks for a promised meeting, to this on the eve of the protest.

The first paragraph is testament to that.

We would like to thank City Matters for their valuable engagement. Their input has been instrumental in helping us to shape the information outlined below, and we look forward to continuing to discuss these matters with the network over the coming weeks and months.

So one of the questions is, why didn’t the directors do all of this weeks ago, instead of leaving it to the last City Matters meeting of the season?

Aside from the protests I think the club have had a harsh awakening that we're not yet at the level of the rags and dippers, where floating fans will pay any price to watch us and take up the slack from regular fans who won't. Recent empty spaces at home games and the semi final has probably spooked them. Add on the alienation of loyal fans and us losing players like De Bruyne, possibly Ederson and Walker etcetera and there is no guarantee next season will be more successful than this one. Wobbly ground and they have to get people back onboard.

brief discussions between the groups tonight we cannot say with confidence that this is the best outcome City fans can get, they are clearly looking at protest numbers tomorrow and using that to determine how far they go in the summer, we say don't fall into the trap
