I don't understand the reasoning behind acts like this if anything it puts me and others off their cause. The painting may be okay but I would love to know if the activists knew that beforehand. What demographic are they trying to reach? I'm middle aged and see it as vandalism, my teenage daughter who loves art just felt they were idiots. I don't see how it furthers their cause.

Same here. I dislike them for their vandalism, I've not even bothered to look at what their cause is.
