Girlfriend bought me a PS4 for my birthday, had it about 5 weeks now with four games: DA Inquisition (finished) , Shadow of Mordor (currently playing), PES 2015 (dabbled) and Alien Isolation (yet to try).
To be honest, if I hadn't received it as a gift then I probably wouldn't have bought one until perhaps the end of this year; there just aren't yet enough good games. I've enjoyed what I've played so far (although DA:I was bloated and weak at times), but the games just feel like PS3 games with better frames-per-second and better lighting.
There just hasn't been the same generational leap that we saw between PS2/X-Box and PS3/360, and think that's because in the last transition we were introduced to fully functioning online play, patching, HD and motion control. The new generation hasn't offered anything new yet. Having to pay to play online on the PS4 is a step backwards for PlayStation and quite unjustifiable.
I'll get an X-Box One eventually, too, but there'll have to be a good catalogue of exclusive games before I do. If I was to be objective and pick out of the two then I'd go for PS4, but my advice would be to wait another year if you can.
