PS4 OR Xbox One

Is there anything for the PS4 that's a FPS like COD but set in WW2/WW1 ? like the old COD's from a few years back.

I just don't like all this futuristic combat shit, with abilities to fly up onto buildings and all this shit.
I want a more traditional combat game, maybe Vietnam or something?

The only one I've seen is this.. (Sniper Elite III)

I have never played it and know little about it. There needs to be another WW2 game, what happened to CoD? The last one they did was back in 2008!

Awaiting Dying Light from game collection. Don't normally preorder but it was £30.. Good site, that and Rakuten. Nothing else out tho for ps4. Disappointing really as its been over a year now since release.

Bought it digitally last month and was very impressed with it on the whole. There again though, I'm somebody who actually enjoyed playing the dead island games despite their many flaws. The gameplay was very solid and you could see a potentially great game in there somewhere it was just lacking polish. This time, they've stolen virtually all of the gameplay mechanics, changed it to a slightly more serious tone added a few new things like the day/night cycle and generally just spent more money on a better game.

Should add i played it entirely in co-op mode with my friend which makes these kind of games infinitely more enjoyable. Only gripe i have with it is after about 60% through the game once you've levelled up a fair amount and gain some of the later abilities, most notably the grappling hook the game becomes very easy. We found a lot of the enjoyment early on was the sense of vulnerability everytime you ventured out of a safe zone. Fighting a standard zombie wasn't particularly difficult but it would take a long time to kill it and by then you'd be swarmed by zombies from all angles and you had no choice but to run and then at night you really felt like prey for the stronger enemies that only appear at that time. if you were seen by one of these enemies, there's a great sense of panic followed by a mad scramble to get back to a safe zone in one piece whilst these things chase you down in packs. Unfortunately, all of this is lost when you reach the second area and you become a one-man machine. you can still die fairly easily if you're not careful but you can kill most things in 1-2 hits with a good weapon and there's plenty of traps to utilise or tools to escape if necessary.

Having to pay to play online on the PS4 is a step backwards for PlayStation and quite unjustifiable.

Agree.
I've spent the equivalent of a new game to be allowed to play online! They say they give you free games each month, but I'm yet to even try any of the offerings, as they all seem pretty poor.

There's been some excellent ps4 games given to you for free. at launch time we had the excellent Resogun, don't starve and outlast. we had a bit of a drop in quality after that admittedly and it seemed sony was finding it difficult to live upto the standard of games we were used to getting for free on the ps3 however there was still value there with the likes of velocity 2x which was brilliant and we had the first big triple A title injustice just before christmas.

This year though Sony have really stepped it up now they've got a steady stream of good games on the system. infamous was very enjoyable, the swapper is a very clever game and this month has been the best so far imo. Transistor is a phenomenal game that every ps4 owner needs to play and i found myself completely hooked on Apotheon (a game that i had never heard of beforehand) The art style is gorgeous with solid game mechanics and is well worth anybodys time. Just give a few of the game's a try, i think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Just because they're not big name AAA titles on offer it doesn't mean they're not worth playing.

Thanks for the review. Should receive it sometime next week.

The lack of good quality games is frustrating. The order 1866 has like 8 hour's gameplay at best. Companies are taking the piss making everything need Dlc.

Was going to buy that game but for £45+ for 8 hours play and apparently reading some reviews it's boring slow play game! Might just buy the don Bradman cricket game

Quality over quantity for me. I don't mind a game being short if it's good (although £45 is hefty for any game; all retail games should be £30 at launch).

I'm currently playing Alien Isolation and you can see that they've put in a lot of filler (ie. having you go back and forth over the same areas) just to flesh the game out. Same with Dragon Age Inquisition. I'd have a happily taken 50-75% off both games for a more streamlined experience).

this, I got bored of it 2/3rds of the way through, once you're done shitting yourself for the first 1/3rd of the game, you then have to be defenceless for another 1/3rd just bashing pointless androids, and then after all that they give you even harder androids before you even get to the final third, so I just got bored and shelved it. There's only so much running away and dying you can do before you either quit, or get given a machine gun to annihilate people in frustration.

Completely bored of my PS4 now and the unoriginal games. Dying light was the last straw, it's just dead Island but on rooftops with a ridiculous spiderman style rope slinging thing, everything is just rehashed. Oh and it's another first person perspective, can we have the fucking option of not looking at a stick waving about in the middle of the screen. It's dead island meets far cry.
Battlefield, call of duty same shit every year, Fifa is the same game every year as is countless others or else it's just a rehashing of another game, far cry 4 was far cry 3 with slightly different vegetation and elephants... Lazy cnuts the lot of them and they are not getting another penny from me, the imagination of games from yesteryear is long dead

Agree, I'd prefer a more traditional and realistic experience with combat games.
I do hate playing these games online as you are carefully clearing room to room as you would in real life fucking some Linford Christie comes running up behind you from a room you just cleared blowing yer head off. I've never turned on the news and seen footage from Iraq of soldiers running around like headless chickens on speed, pulling their parachutes as they jump of a wall and bouncing like jack rabbits about the battlefield.
