PS4 OR Xbox One

Are developers struggling to make the step up from xbox 360/PS3 to next gen? I can't understand the lack of games out there at the moment...

There are no decent FPSs out there. COD is now for 10 year olds and has gone completely down hill, I have heard nothing for negative things about Hardline. There are adventure games making use of open world but they should be venturing in to online formats and following what games on Steam are doing.

I remember when the PS2 and PS3 came out, there were plenty of games out there after a couple of years yet the selection at the moment is pretty poor.

Well, we're not yet 'a couple of years' into this generation, so still time! I recall getting my PS3 around launch time and the only decent games being Resistance, Heavenly Sword and the Orange Box (which technically was a previous-gen game). The 360 had a few good exclusives in its first 18 months, but not many (in fact, many of its best games were re-masterings of previous-gen games, much like what we're seeing with the PS4 now, sadly).

It took at least 18-24 months for top quality games to turn up, and I think it will be the same with this generation (No Man's Sky, Elite Dangerous, Star Wars Battlefront, Halo 5, Arkham Knight, Witcher 3 - all looking good). I just wish they'd stop with all these re-mastered editions, and focus on some new stuff.

Too risky for most publishers now to allow devs to take chances and make new IP's like they did in the ps2 era. They need all resources to go on sequel after sequel of games that probably should of ended years ago or at least have more time spent developing them to guarantee a return.

You're right about the lack of decent fps's. Hardline is a poor COD clone, and i'm somebody who hates COD. Not played a decent fps for a few years now but playing hardline made me want to get back into one, went back to bf4 but even that is very hit and miss on the stable server front. It seems most console fps's are getting worse lately in that regard. I can only assume it's through a lack of time/money/effort put into the game. back when the ps3 was launched Resistance was running 64 player games with no hint of lag. Then vegas 2 and cod 4 came out and had solid servers. Now we're struggling to get 10-16 player games to run. Of the ones due out this year i have no hope for battlefront given it's EA publishing it, COD i haven't touched since 4 and Rainbow six looks promising but i'm sure that will be put back and ruined.

Game developers are more concerned with making money than making a decent game these days. Copy and existing game that was successful, market it as the next big thing, only release half the finished game so you can release the remaining stuff as dlc later.

Only played the first dark souls and turned it off after half hour. Tried it again recently and turned it off after 15 mins. Just don't see the appeal at all. Fair enough if you like it, everyone has different tastes.

Tad random but does anyone know if Rockstar are working on anything exciting? Can't go wrong with a Rockstar game...unless it's gta online, which is shit.
Same mate, I think Dark Souls/ Bloodbourne is absolute arse, my brothers mad into it though. Look out for any games by Naughty Dog as well, probably the best game makers there are.

a week today until the Witcher 3 is released and the reviews are starting to come out. So far it's averaging 92 on Metacritic. with an estimated 200 hours worth of worthwhile content this is going to see me through the next few months during the football off-season. This game is actually going to live up to what it promised. I can't wait.
