PSG ticket prices - Protest options v West Brom.

I've written on a number of occasions that we weren't comparable to other big clubs in terms of seat revenue so I fully expected prices to rise and the mix of seating, with a bigger focus on corporate/premium seating (because that's where you make the money pro-rata). My season ticket has gone up something like 60% in 7 years and I've paid it. We're pretty well on a par with Liverpool now in terms of revenue per seat which, given the respective size of our fan-bases, is pretty damn good I'd say.

But back in 2008 the man who bought the club said some things when he wrote an open letter to us. Here it is in full:

Let's pick out a few bits.

Well they've listened. Kevin Parker & the 1894 Group have spoken to Danny Wilson, expressing their concerns, and the club response was "Tough titty".

The majority think that he, or more precisely his executive team, is not acting in the best interest of the fans.
'The majority'? Did I miss the poll?

Am sure that when HRH bought the club,he or a spokesman, stated that in-time they wanted to expand the stadium capacity, thus lower prices whilst keeping the feel as a family club..
And making it a family day out...
Seems someone not been reading the same page..
Did the South Stand expansion with all of it's £299 & £380 ST's not happen then?

£25 for CL Quater final is very cheap

That may be so in comparison to others but it would've pretty much guaranteed a sell out. Coming off the back of an expensive trip to Wembley where tens of thousands of season ticket holders that don't do away games would've attended, meaning there was less in their pot for the forthcoming CL games, the club should've taken this into account because our fanbase is one of the least affluent in the league. It's not just the adult prices either - it's been pointed out that a 16-21 yo will pay up to £40. That's probably worse than the £60 top price for an adult ticket. Disabled tickets are priced very high too.

Anyone with a brain knew that that was the deal when the club was taken over by wealthy foreign owners. Did you object at the time or has the penny only just dropped now?

What planet are you on, has everyone signed up to increases in ticket prices and season cards every year. Your as bad as the corporates if you are happy to go along and keep paying these ridiculous prices.

The club has just turned in to a joke and the fans are way down on the list of priorities - all this crap they do before the game and ridiculous videos of how to become a keeper and how to make an apple crumble is just embarrassing.

It is mentioned a lot but the German clubs are all geared towards the fans - the ticket prices are low, public transport is pretty much free, players show their appreciation to the fans and that is returned from the fans. Clearly the club has stood their ground and seem unbothered to be pricing fans out which is a shame.

Since going to my first game with my Dad in 92 as a 4 year old I can honestly say this is the most disillusioned I have been since supporting the club!

It's quite clear even from just on here that it's a minority who are defending these prices. Just listened to the excellent Bluemoon podcast (who got it absolutely right in my view) and they ran a poll about who would support a walk-out protest and 55% said they would. I reckon it's a safe bet that some of the 45% who wouldn't don't support the pricing of this but don't feel a walk-out is right.

I can't tell you what each of those have achieved off the top of my head but they all publish minutes. I know what PoB has done:

Setting up City Square?
Getting the Ticket Office moved above the shop so you don't get pissed wet through when queuing.
Improving the standard of catering (although not necessarily the service).
The ATM machine at the ground.

All of these (and an number of other things) came from City listening to the fans.

Used to love going in the cafe above the souvenir shop and was devastated when it closed down! Might have known it was you.

Fair play for the atm though. Can you try and get another though. Queue is always massive.

I get the logic but why didn't the same people take up the various ticket offers for previous rounds? Are our ticket prices in line with the rest of football or more expensive? Are our fans poorer than the rest of football fans? From where I see it our owners have lavished £100's millions bringing some of the best talent in the world to our previously mediocre team. They have invested £100's millions in developing East Manchester through regeneration projects. They have built the finest academy in the world on our doorstep thereby helping local talent and generating real new jobs and are soon to bring us the "best manager in the world". I don't know about you but I think we should be incredibly grateful.

For Prestwich Blue and his friends on here that's not enough. That group want to have heavily discounted tickets and a seat on the board so that City could be like it used to be in "the good old days". The phrase "there is no pleasing some people" is being taken to new heights.

Football ticket pricing is a football issue not a just a City issue. Let's not be the idiots making the headlines by protesting against our club.

I've stated time and time again that I've defended this club to the hilt since the takeover so yes, I am grateful for what the sheikh has done. I've also stated that I doubt he has ever had a hand in setting the ticket prices so this isn't a pop at him, moreso at certain employees who are out of touch with reality. You on the other hand seem to be of the blinkered opinion that every single person who works at the club is as wonderful as our owner. I can tell you for now that we've got some great people working at City but we've also got some utter gimps, and if it wasn't for one group of fans in particular, the cheese-fest inside the ground on a match-day would be ten times worse than it is now.

As for protesting about home ticket prices, how else do you expect fans of clubs up and down the country to go about it? It's not like away ticket prices where it was easier for us to organise a joint campaign with all the other clubs. Home ticket prices are different with many different shades of grey regarding pricing structures at each club. This is what Scudamore alluded to a couple of months ago - the Premier League were able to lobby the clubs on behalf of the fans about away tickets but it's not really possible for them to do it with home tickets. Therefore, it's up to the fans of each club to lobby their respective clubs about it and that's what fans up and down the country have been doing, not just City.

Always surprised there is no catering at the shop non match days, maybe when / if the shop is built into the new stand, by the way any news on that , very quiet at the moment ?

I used to love that cafe as well. You could park easily, it was nice food and reasonable prices. Should have moved the ticket office to the City@Home building by the gate.

Yes agreed, criminal that there is not a place at City you can meet midweek and have a coffee, lunch etc. can you raise that? Think the rags have a cafe open every day?
