I don't think that France will overtkake Italy in Uefa competitions.
Italy is paying for the impossibility for the clubs to built new stadiums... so the level of Serie A will going down until we'll have a new law(wich yesterday was approved by one of our 2 section of parliament).
But beside Psg I can't see any great football team in France.
Btw, the power of a nation is always represented by his national team.

No I would say the "power of a nation" is measured by it's economy, it's military strength and a whole load of other things un-football related.
