Pundits/co Commentators?

Has anyone ever heard anything they have not already seen by a pundit or given an insight that we hadnt seen ourselves?
Dion Dublin- That was a good run ,he crossed it but the header went wide!
John Hartson- Good pass that but nothing on the end of it.

??

I learnt from Dion Dublin that stairs lead upstairs

Why do we even need commentary? I know what I’m watching. I don’t need it at the game. Co commentators are utterly pointless too. Give me crowd noise and match sounds, BBC once offered that during a previous tourney.

As for in studio pundits. Haven’t watched or listened to them in years. No point. And for all the 2 faced self righteousness pundits at the WC, you can do the exact same job in a warm studio in London/Salford/John O Groats, and make more of a statement not going over the Qatar. I get the feeling that all the pitch side stuff, studio pundits etc is for armchair fans who probably have never been near a stadium or never will.

Some of the pundits and hosts have never stood on a terrace or been to a potentially tasty away game.

Your remote has a mute button.

Seems incredibly easy for you to not hear commentary while all the people who do like it can enjoy it.

Believe me I use it. Always have music on. But that’s for the suggestion

Most pundits are at the game, live. They can look around and see the entire field. So it's very likely they'll see something off camera and report it.

To play devil's advocate, there isn't much time for co-commentators (or pundits to a lesser extent) to really analyse anything. Other sports generally have frequent breaks in play that provide time for analysis. Then you have sports such as motor racing, where even though things don't stop, not enough is going on to demand attention at any one time.

I’ll take a Ray Hudson any day of the week. He waxes poetic with gems like “the Real Madrid fans are in orgasmic jubilation” or “Tom Cruise?? He couldn’t whiff the jock of one of these athletes without fading dead away”.

MooI think commentary is ok, I know i am a FOC but Brian Moore,Barry Davies , Coleman,Wolstenholme etc never had/needed a second voice! interesting to see similar comments.
However dont get me started on the necessity to fly and house BBC' pundits/experts ' to Qatar at our expense!! For what??
They only did one game a week though. It’s every day for some commentators these days, including travel.
