Take yer pickSquirty or The Ramones?
Not really Punk or New Wave as such but The Macc Lads were(how can I say) not to everyone's taste. Infact they split due to being banned all over the uk for their explicit lyrics. So if you easily get offended, better not listen.
Take them or leave them here's a few of their best tracks IMO. They can play a bit too.
MACC LADS - You have been warned!
1: Sweaty Betty
2: Beer & Sex & Chips n' Gravy
3: Fluffy Pup
4: No Sheep Till Buxton
5: Helen Of Fowey
Not PC but funny as fuck, Desperate Dan is a favourite. Back in the day one of the more outlandish bands, Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, "if you don't want to fuck me, fuck off" with Jools Holland on keyboards.
Agreed mate. Some of their lyrics are side splittingly funny. Not PC but funny as fuck, Desperate Dan is a favourite. Back in the day one of the more outlandish bands, Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, "if you don't want to fuck me, fuck off" with Jools Holland on keyboards.
Siouxie And The Banshees
1: Hong Kong Garden
2: The Staircase Mystery
3: Playground Twist
4: Love In A Void
5:Nicotine Stain
Love it :)
Were you at this one? I was there but don't remember if it was the Clash or Buzzcocks gig.
No I was only 14 at the time (and living in Coventry sadly)
First Banshee gig was Cov Apollo 1980
The only gig I can find of them at the Mayflower was this one / two in 1978 - backs up your Slits claim too.I had just turned 14 myself, but thankfully living in Failsworth. ; )
I had seen them two three times before I turned 15. I saw them again over here at the first lollapalooza gig .
A bit of searching shows the Clash, Siouxsie gig was in Nov and the Buzzcocks, penetration, Siouxsie gig was in Dec.
Trying to find out who played with Buzzcocks at the Mayflower club in 1977 now. I know the Slits were there.
I was born in 1964. Loved The Jam and Blondie but the sound and sheer exuberance of The Specials was the closest to my heart. Terry Hall was a miserable sod but his take on stuff at that time was better than anything else. It was miserable and odd but strangely liberating. Said it as we felt it.
