Punk and New Wave thread.

I agree and It sounds to me like Diggle is trying to mimic Shelley's distinct singing voice and Diggle is failing miserably.

A mate of mine is going watching Buzzcocks, Ruts DC and The Skids, asked me if i want a ticket. I think I'll give it a swerve because Buzzcocks aren't the same without Pete Shelley, Ruts DC without won't be the same without Malcolm Owen, even though i never got to see them as he tragically overdosed aged 25 in 1980. Also never seen the Skids because I only liked Into The Valley and Masquerade.

Not heard this track(about heroin) for yonks. B Side of Staring at the Rude Boys.

And whilst I'm listening to it i may as well put the A side on here.

for me the best punk vocalist of them all

^^^^Wally overdosed just as the Pistols started their reunion tour in 1996.
Sid's mum also fatally overdosed (intentionally) around that time.
Lydon had been badmouthing Sid in the press.
Makes you wonder if they both were affected by the Pistols reunion.

My older brother was into these.I saw them live a couple of times

Live in concert 51mins

Top lads, when we were out in the Gulf one of the lads wrote a fan letter to them, they sent him a load of tapes and other stuff. They were defo a squaddies favourite in the 80’s/90’s.

^^^ a lad I know sang for the macc lads for a bit relatively recently (including at blackpool festival) until the usual chap came back...

I doubt Wally was affected by the reunion in any way. From the sound of it he had a long term drug abuse issue
As did Sid's mum.

Rude boy coming to Netflix in 2 weeks.
Not the greatest of movies but some brilliant live footage of the Clash.
I've bought about 3 versions of this film, the latest being on Blu Ray. I don't really like it and the character Ray is a real knobhead BUT as you say the live versions are tremendous and probably rank amongst the best out there.
