Punk and New Wave thread.

It’s scary to think that on Thursday just gone, 6th November 1975, the Sex Pistols played their first ever gig at St Martins College, London, as support for Bazooka Joe, who had one Stuart Goddard in the band.
50 years ago!!!!!!
These anniversaries of things you remember like yesterday were depressing enough when they were 20 & 30 years ago.

Now it's hitting the half century mark, I'm feeling like I may as well just camp outside the undertakers, to save them the bother of coming round.

How were they post punk or new wave. Surely just a pop band
Have you heard their debut single Dead Pop Stars?
They sent a demo to Siouxsie & The Banshees and ended up supporting them on tour. The Banshees Steve Severin produced their first two singles - then Martin Rushant got hold of them and the rest is history

Just listened to it. Don't remember it from back in the day. I don't think it's aged well but I get the point you're making.

Great background info there,I had no idea.thanks.

Makes me think of Adam Ant ( Stuart Goddard) I was explaining to some mates recently, how he is known for the No.1 singles and big video production....but prior to that he was a real new wave icon, I'm not familiar with his early stuff but I know the early singles are collectable.
It really dawned on me who Adam Ant really was when I started following Lizzie and the Banshees, Siouxsie tribute, and there was always a bloke with an Adam and the ants t shirts at every gig, used to chat to him regularly about the post punk scene,it was obvious AA was well respected early days,in the post punk circles.

The Sex Pistols first gig at St Martins College was supporting Bazooka Joe which was the first band Stuart Goddard was in so he was certainly around from the start
