Got it. Thanks. I’m convinced now that VAR was right for once. Well spotted, my old eyes didn’t see it well.

I've seen this alternate image on Twitter which I think cleared up any residual doubt for me. People saying it didn't show the keeper or the ball in the CGI graphic... it's because they weren't relevant to the decision, the guy who was offside is definitely ahead of both of them.

I want to know why these countries pronounce their names as if they had swapped their Q and C.
It sounds like it should be Catar versus Equador.

This game just produced another example of why we should get rid of VAR.

Someone has spent far too much time trying to find a reason to chalk that goal off. That's not what it should be for and it's absolutely killing the game. It takes too long and it's just finding reasons - pathetic, minute reasons - for ruling goals out. You cannot cheer a goal now without someone trying to find a reason to rule it out.

I think Qatar must be the worst team I've seen in a WC and they managed to make the basics look difficult!

Got to be said as well, the crowd going home didn't help either!
