what is the point of hughes's signings, he is replacing Paddy Kenny, with a slightly better Paddy Kenny, signing Andy Johnson to go with the other 30 something has beens in their forward line, and Ryan Nelsen at CB back when they need to bring a reliable CB with experience but not too old to have enough longevity to play enough games, and a younger CB who they can develop so they have a settled defence, otherwise they will always have a leaky defence and won't be able to achieve the mid table position that their Chairman is aiming for.
