QPR vs City: Post match discussion [Merged]

Re: QPR vs City: Post match discussion

Thank god Kompany is back next game, Savic is only young so I won't criticise him. However we do need a more experienced centre back bought in January. Mancini needs to keep bedding Savic in like he has been doing, sub appearances.

Great win.

Not bad when you win "ugly" yet still score 3!

Twaddle is a prick

Re: QPR vs City: Post match discussion

Playing bad and winning, haven't they been saying they aren't going to judge us until we do that?

Huge credit to QPR who I thought were excellent and by far our toughest test so far.

Today for me highlights the importance of Kompany to our organisation at the back.

Player Ratings vs QPR.

Hart - 6 - Not much he could have done for either goal and pulled off some cracker saves at times. Didn't command his area as well as he could. Still great though.

Richards - 5 - Let Traore run at him all night long. Luckily for him Traore isn't a good crosser. Surprisingly very poor.
Savic - 5 - Didn't cope well with the Aerial threats but just starting out so can be forgiven
Lescott -6 - Didn't rise to the challenge and looked a much worse player without Kompany beside him. Gave an average perfomance.
Kolarov - 7- Performed his usual shaky in defence solid in attack. But set up the third goal and didn't do too much wrong in defence.

Barry - 7 - Usually solid performance that won't get noticed by many people.
Milner - 7- Constant running backwards and forwards to win the ball and create chances
Silva - 7- Unusually quiet night but beautiful touch and control to score the second.
Yaya - 8- Energetic performance to set up chances capped of with a beautiful goal.

Aguero - 6- Worked the defence but could have done much better with his shots and crosses.
Dzeko -8- Goal and an assist, played a blinding game tonight. At times his touch was too heavy or lost control but overall great perfomance.

Balotelli - 6- Came on to hold the ball up but tracked back well.
Kolo Toure - N/A
Adam Johnson - 5 - Didn't see much of him but he didn't have a free flowing role. Was tasked with defending instead of breaking forward. Solid enough but sloppy at times.

That was a quite brilliant 3 points won. Not many teams would have won there today with thier performance.

Tiny pitch, clearly heavily watered. Passionate crowd. They played as well as they probably could. Coming from an away CL game with our captain missing.

Yes, rode our luck at times, who doesnt (Everton hit bar v Utd) BUT and a large BUT, we responded and for the 1st time in ages away won a game we went behind in. Big character in the team.

Just hope Kompany stays fit though...........

Bang on.

Re: QPR vs City: Post match discussion

What a game that was..QPR hats off well played
We missed King Kompany
Kolo Toure should have started the match instead of savic
Loved joe hart for the save though it was an offside
3 points it is..playing poor and still winning thats what we needed
Hate internationals.
City Till I Die :D :D

Thoughts on the game: <a class="postlink" href="http://bluetintedspecs.blogspot.com/2011/11/qpr-2-3-city-thoughts.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://bluetintedspecs.blogspot.com/201 ... ughts.html</a>

Match thoughts.

I don't think ESPN's commentators are happy with that result. I don't think it's because they hate City, I just think it's because, like any neutral, you want the smaller teams to do one on the big teams. Some comments were annoying from Champion and Waddle but I guess none of their words matter when we win in the end.

QPR are a spirited bunch and they did play well, but eventually our quality in the final third did produce the goods when QPR fell asleep at the back. QPR have a lot of gusto, but they've not got a lot of quality - which is something we have in abundance. They were disciplined, organised for large parts of the game and never, ever let us settle and get fully into our stride but when we possess players such as Silva, Aguero and Yaya Toure you can't let your guard down for a split second because, as we did today, we will make other teams regret it.

It was a match that the media will love, because QPR were slightly the better team. In fact it's only the second time this season that a team has been willing to get at us, the only other time being Fulham away.

Luckily, Kompany is only out for one game because Savic isn't quite ready for the delights of the Premier League yet. He's getting there, but on one or two occasions he was turned too easily, and there were a couple of moments when his inexperience was on display, but he's slowly getting there.

I thought Aguero deserved a goal today but his time will come again. He was actually one of our better players today, I thought, and he'll be a little disappointed in coming off so early, but he conducted himself well in a hostile ground and got his head down and worked hard.

Silva wasn't his usual self, but he can create moments of absolute genius from nowhere, and that's why he's so important to us. That touch and finish for his goal was world class and pretty much something only he could have done in that position. Like the rest of the team, he found it difficult to discover space in between QPR's midfield and defence, but he knows his way around a pitch. So much so, that you can't keep control of him forever.

I'm glad nobody supported Kolarov on that left wing, because that cross never would have come in for Yaya's header, and what a header it was! Rising high, heading in, scoring goals; that's what we like to see from Yaya!

A dogged performance, but we can't have played that badly if we managed to score three. Dzeko took his goal brilliantly, Silva finished beautifully, and Yaya powered home and filled us with relief. It was a shock to the system this afternoon, but thankfully it was a winning one.

Re: QPR vs City: Post match discussion

Was nervous before this one, i watched them play chelsea and they battled away in that game. To be fair to them, their defence wasn't that bad considering what they were up against. Serious question marks about our defending though, what on earth happened there? Mancini will be fuming about some of the performances, sorry savic. Savic is a good lad and im sure he'll bounce back but fuck me, we missed vincent. In saying that, im delighted with the result. Time to get pissed!

Honestly thought that performance by Micah, was the worst i have seen him play in a long long time.
That second half he was anywhere but playing full back.
Mind he wasn`t alone in poor performances, but this is the type of game Hansen spoke about last week, when put under pressure.
Not at our best but a wins a win.

Yep, Micah was poor. Maybe the captaincy affected him or playing against his mate Shaun....Fuckin knackered after watching that!
