depends if we have a cold snap between now and the summer, I doubt it as it's already practically April, I think many things should have a good year.

Almost every pest insect species has at least one wasp species that preys upon them , making wasps critically important in natural control of their numbers.
try telling that to the poor sod who found this in his attic.

cue rolled up magazine and a serious twatting. (the wasp not my missus). regular wasps haven't even been laid as eggs yet. this was a queen wasp looking for a place to build a nest. then today i was round my mum's and she had one in. same result.
it's most likely the recent warm weather that's woken them up a bit early but two in two days makes me wonder if we're in for a plague of them. given a chance they'll find their way into your garage, shed or worse still your attic in which case you'll have a nasty surprise in the summer.
they're a bit bigger and thicker than ordinary wasps and have a louder buzz, more like a bumble bee. if you see one kill it if you can as if you just shoo it out of the window it could come back.

One of the lads noticed that one nest was black ants and at the other end of the factory was a nest of brown ants. He gathered up a couple of hundred black ones and threw them near the entrance to the brown ants nest. A battle then ensued which Russell Crowe would have been proud of.
