Question Time

Watched it this morning - didn't think Hitchens was too bad, if people listened to what he said.
Mogg seemed to try answering a question different from what he was asked, which wasn't a surprise.
Labour/Liberal people were forthright, but didn't seem to manage to focus their point often.
Nurse's leader was good. Benefitted from only having one position to defend - the good of nurses.

The simplistic nonsense of 'buy British' - in this case, wine.

We do not have enough land to provide all the food and drink we need, not by half. So if everyone followed this advice, prices would roughly double, which would not help anyone and least of all the poor. That's even assuming that the UK product is as good and that no one values choice.

Secondly, the law of comparative advantage means it is always advantageous to trade. And indeed, to specialise in what we are best at, just as individuals do. It's no use growing your own carrots if they cost £50 a bag, and the time and resources you spent on it could have been deployed to earn £100.

Following this policy of isolation means you end up driving a Trabant and it costs you as much as a decent car. So to speak.

And said wine exporter could call him a liar! Some woman (a Tory plant probably) wanted us to buy British wine - that will put up the cost of living!
That was one of the most banal contributions to QT hat I’ve ever seen.
Like British wine being very nice was somehow anything to do with brexit or was she suggesting the wine importer should forget that foreign rubbish and just sell British wine to people who want… errr….foreign rubbish.
Since the wine merchant‘s point was about the shambles of brexit, I can only assume that she thought it was relevant.
This is what’s left of defending brexit I suppose.

The people can't afford water bills.

Let them drink British wine!

An electric trabbi - it's the future!

How a Tory MP can go on this programme any more defending this shower of shite running the country is beyond me!
