Queues

So City wanted us to go in an hour before kick off, to a dry stadium, with food twice the price of outside, to stand on a concourse or go into a stadium with a knackered tannoy so even if you're lucky enough to be able to see a screen you haven't a clue what's going on anyway?

And on a normal match day the only difference is overpriced lager in a plastic glass, which, if you're holding, you can't stand anywhere you can see the pitch.

So what's the incentive? Watching the ref warm up?

Have they visited the planet Earth, with real people on it?

I'm just speculating here, but I think it's down to who our owner is and how that makes our stadium a potential target for any idiot out there.

I go in entrance Z. Never more than a two minute queue, but they really need to sort out tier 1. One person searching per turnstile is totally inadequate and the searches are crap anyway. What they should do is make it known there will be random searches for say one in ten and pull people aside or do it Wembley style where you get searched once through the turnstile. Either that or do some profiling. Bottom line is they need a lot more people doing the searches. At the moment it's the worst of all worlds - inadequate sporadic searches and pissed off people missing big chunks of the match. Shambolic security is actually worse than no security. Anyone who wanted to kill lots of people would just do it outside where there are loads more people than there should be due to the poor organisation.

There is a reason they want you there early so they can carry out the relevant searches and ensure you get in before kick off. The country is on alert to threats and Football stadiums can be perceived as a major target. I'd rather they search us properly than some loons getting in and causing harm.

It is difficult for some of us on Evenings, but people were still in the boozers with 15mins to go before kick off.

I think we need to get used to it and potentially alter our behaviours.

People won't do so for a lot of reasons mentioned already. Nothing to do once you are inside the stadium except queue once more to buy overpriced food and drink and freeze your tits off, bored to death. The searches are inadequate and haphazard at best and any terrorist with a modicum of intelligence could kill dozens either on the overcrowded trams or in the vicinity of the crowds outside. Also how many season ticket holders do we have? 46 thousand? With all the surveillance and snooping I am sure if a suspect was a season ticket holder they would have come up on the radar by now. That leaves about 3 thousand away fans and 5 thousand floating ones of ours left. A way should be found to vet them more carefully.

There is no easy solution but the present one is awful.

So probably not a good idea to force large groups of people to gather outside, where anyone with or without a ticket can wander up. A familiar terrorist tactic BITD was to encourage crowds to congregate in an area where they could be more easily targeted.

It seems our "security" is doing that job for them. I'm not sure where they're getting their advice from, but if it's for safety it's amateur hour leading up to the game in all aspects.

I think clubs with American owners have more to worry about from the vast majority of terrorists these days ....

As said elsewhere, no terrorist even needs to get into the stadium to cause death and mayhem on a huge scale ... City Square, Summerbee Bar, the bridge/tram stops etc are all easily accessible. Even a copper said re the searches, 'No point unless you search everyone'

We got to the ground 15 mins before kickoff ( stayed in the townly ) Not that much of a large que at M1 , got to seats just as the game kicked off ,after reading this I don't think they searched anyone in M1
