Queues

Luckily my queue was easy to get in, straight up in the lift and in my seat 5 mins before kick off.

Did see the queues mind you and its a worry that it takes so long for people to get in for kick off.

Maybe the club should offer the facility of cheaper drinks for those who get in before kick off?

Maybe stop serving alcohol at the bars near the City Square?

Does it matter if they're the holders? You wouldn't lend your card to someone random and if you sell your seat on the ticket exchange, the buyer has to print off a paper ticket. Maybe do a one in ten random search as a deterrent as well.

But thousands of blues use the buy and sell pages from Daz each week and only met the guy about 15 mins before kick off and didnt know him from adam. (But tbf a quick glance at his facebook was comfortable enough for me) but yes i get your point if i pass my ticket on to a friend i would stand over them but there is a risk.

Technology may provide quick solutions in the future for accessing events regularly but - not wanting to get too heavy - some recent attacks have been "homegrown" terrorists so you dont really know who anyone is. Neighbours often say on TV that joe bloggs was such a nice guy, noone around here was expecting it.

If its through the exchange then the liability is of course with City but my point being football tickets are very easy to come by, security is far from tight, 3rd party risk is high and the queues at city are long. At the minutes its have to see any incentives to get thousands in other than entertainment and/or cheap food/pints. But everyone is agreed that doubling Showsec staff at each gate for 90 mins before KO would be a start.

The biggest risk is having crowds of people in an unsecure area. It's got to be the priority to avoid that as much as possible. Having great big queues anywhere is the opposite of what is required.

It probably goes against some law or other but perhaps they need to introduce profiling. For example, searching groups that include small children or the elderly is pointless. Also people with Seasoncards are far less likely to be a threat so just the occasional random search would suffice. In short if they just focused searches on people with paper tickets who are unaccompanied or in a group without children, they would save a lot of messing around. If an outer ring had turnstiles that would just let Seasoncard holders through and make people with paper tickets queue for checks that would speed things up significantly.

Why is it? Not having a go but I have seen some horrific damage to armoured vehicles and personnel from Children willing to be martyrs.

Not in this country. I know you can't rule out child suicide bombers but if the security people are properly trained they will be able to tell the difference between a family outing and a potential suicide mission. Good security is all about minimising risk and sometimes its better to make judgment calls to reduce the numbers in a queue. If everyone is thoroughly searched properly, the queues would be massive and would be an easy target.

Total bollox WDB. You have obviously never had anything to do with security. How many blues give their SC to others or sell them for a game? Security is only as good as its weakest link and you have just taken all the fences down. If you can recognise a potential bomber then you should be head of MI5 or police if it was that easy after training.

I would say that very few hand over their season cards to people they don't know and trust or are at least friends of friends. They'd want to be fairly sure they're going to get it back.

There were children in the queue in front of me who weren't searched or wanded, I wasn't searched or wanded even though I was carrying a coat over my arm. I was prepared to be wanded and was just saying to him that I can only raise one arm fully at present and he just waved me through. It wasn't late, about 2.35 and I had only queued for about 10 minutes so they weren't trying to get us in quickly or anything. (Entrance P by the way, always a jolly queue there & I mean that positively because we always end up having a smile about something)

Look a bit closer next time. I have seen cards handed to people obviously not family or friends and stuffed back through the railings.

Really cannot believe the stuff you come out with. A bit like saying that terrorists don't fly 1st class so they can skip security.

I'm not disagreeing that the current situation is quite pathetic. I take a bag and am happy for it to be searched but all they want to see is the bottom of the bag - not the contents of the stainless Steel flask sat in it, nor do they look at the other two compartments that my bag has.

My point is that there are no rules with terrorism and no age barriers either so IMO all should receive the same degree of scrutiny.

Sadly, with the world we live in, this is the price we now have to pay.

No one do this the queues will take even longer if they start scanning kids because someone has grassed them up.

After every atrocity people stand up and say "they wont beat us, they wont change our way of life, that's what they want for us to live in fear"
And guess what... That's exactly what we are doing

Oh dear SW, do you not understand? Got nothing to do with grassing up and everything to do with you, me and everyone else being safe and enjoying football.

Fred, I don't go on the City page usually but I did try after seeing your post and gave up because finding the contact us page, which on the old site used to be easy enough, is a nightmare. However, don't be concerned, I have contacted them via an email contact. :-)

You are right that there's no rules however 100% security for 54,000 people is impossible so we need measures in place that would make potential perpetrators choose another location. That means visible security that looks competent, not crowds of people queueing to have a barely trained numpty wave a wand in their general direction. That's why they need to profile people and get some focus. Obviously I would not expect that details of their security operation should be general knowledge however what we've got at the moment is the worst of all worlds. A potential attacker could recce it and see the glaring weaknesses in the operation. Crap security is worse than no security.
