R.I.P. Johan Neeskens, Dutch football legend dies aged 73.

Great shame that the stars of the 70’s are gradually slipping away. Apparently only 5 of the 74 WC team still alive
Great players Neeskins, Rep, Rensenbrink, Haan, Kroll, Van Der Kerkoff’s

He was part of the greatest FOOTBALL team never to win the World Cup and he himself was an absolute genius.

.... only slightly just better than the great Zico, Socrates Brazilian team of '82

My son bought me a picture of him playing for the dutch and it's on a wall in my kitchen (not normally into that kind of thing). People who look at it say 'why do you have a picture of Kevin Keegan on your wall?' I take great pleasure in explaining.

Don't forget the magical Magyars, that wonderful Hungarian team that went for years undefeated in the early fifties, only to lose inexplicably to West germany in 1954.
O my Puskas and my Boszik long ago

My earliest WC memories are of the 1974 dutch team, Neeskins for some reason stood out to me more than the rest, even Cruyff. Wonderful player, wonderful team

Apparently Jonny Rep is in a bad way too. Think he had a heart attack the day Neeskins died. Ajax are covering most of his 20K treatment bills

Fantastic player and humble human being. RIP.

Cruyff stated he only passed the ball because he knew Neeskens was the sole one able to get his toes against the ball. Netherlands 1 - Brasil 0. WC 1974.
