Of course they didn't target the Italian, and especially, the German players.
There were hundreds of thousands of German immigrants in Argentina during WWII. The nation stayed neutral during the war because of this fact. Juan Peròn gave a secret order for Argentine diplomats and intelligence operatives in Europe to establish escape routes, aka "ratlines" for SS (the worst of the worst, real "true believers" ) officers and Nazi Party officials to Argentina. The routes were through Spain and Italy. The Catholic Church, and Red Cross, were complicit in these acts.
Some names you may recognize who were aided to escape by and allowed to settle in Argentina were Adolf Eichmann, Josef Mengele and Walter Rauff. Rauff isn't as well known but he invented mobile gas chambers, gas vans. This way they could just gas Jews, and others on the spot then start up the van and move to a different location to gas more. Rauff didn't actually settle in Argentina but was allowed to enter through Argentina before moving to Ecuador. Mengele lived there for a time, UNDER HIS REAL NAME, before emigrating with Simon Wiesenthal on his heels.
Martin Bormann, Hitler's chief assistant, is rumored to have died in Berlin. HOWEVER, a former Argentine Ambassador to Israel, Dr. Gregario Topolevsky, said Bormann was living in Argentina after the war but fled to Brazil when he heard about Eichmann's capture by the Mossad. According to Topolevsky, Argentine officials knew.Bormann was in Argentina.
Before you use moral relativism or "Yeah but, what about xyz country..." my wife and children are Jews. Many countries after the war didn't make an effort to take in the worst of the worst and if they found any within their borders they dealt with them.
Edit:
@Vialli98 the last paragraph wasnt meant for you. It was directed to the inevitable response from our "friend" who will excuse any bad behaviours with "reasons."
