Racist pub owners made to remove “golliwog” dolls

I'm absolutely shocked that a man who shares Katie Hopkins videos and deems it appropriate to have Golliwogs hanging in his pub is actually a massive racist ****.
Who'd have thought it? It's always the ones you least suspect.

And their comments about Indian weddings is textbook ''I can't be racist because my window cleaner is black''.

Always amusing in threads of this nature to see some of the usual names lamenting about how the 'woRLds GOnE mAD' because their covert (or sometimes outright) bigotry isn't quite as socially acceptable now as it used to be.

For me that post is insulting. I would and have never used the N word, I would never even think of using it...so your completely wrong when you say " probably think it's ok to use the N word"
I think Gollys are completely innocent to older people like me, we had them as kids in the 60's. We collected Golly badges from Robertsons Jam, little metal badges, you could collect the whole set. There was absolutely no connotation to black people as far as i was aware. We loved Gollys, to me they are so innocent, their faces could be blue or pink, it wouldn't matter.
However yeah things have changed and if they upset black people then yes the landlord should not display them. If his wife wants a private collection then fine but I don't see the need to make a point about some toys, at the risk of upsetting and creating division. There's more important things in life.
The landlord and his wife should do the right thing though and just accept that we live in a different world now.

Like the black and white minstrels, Gollys should be a thing of the past.

The golliwog(g) is a minstrel the original author of the book in which they first featured took inspiration from a minstrel doll she had as child whilst living in the USA.

As a child you may have thought them as innocent but that isn't the truth.

Once upon a time, the three bold Gollywogs, Golly, Woggie, and ****** decided to go for a walk on Bumblebee common. Golly wasn’t quite ready, so Woggie and ****** said they would start off without him, and Golly would catch up with them as soon as he could. So off went Woggie and ****** arm in arm, singing merrily their favourite song, which as you may have guessed was Ten Little ****** Boys.”

Enid Blyton
Later versions of the book, one of the characters has been renamed waggie. And it the title was also later renamed to three little Pixies.

In the link below you can see a version from 1951 with the original name of the third golly used.

Yeah I know that's why I said they should be removed.
