As for Muslims and pigs, I know one family that eat bacon, but only when dad, who is more observant, is away. I have eaten pork when sharing a restaurant meal with a Muslim friend and he was completely relaxed about it. He had chicken on that occasion.

For me that post is insulting. I would and have never used the N word, I would never even think of using it...so your completely wrong when you say " probably think it's ok to use the N word"
I think Gollys are completely innocent to older people like me, we had them as kids in the 60's. We collected Golly badges from Robertsons Jam, little metal badges, you could collect the whole set. There was absolutely no connotation to black people as far as i was aware. We loved Gollys, to me they are so innocent, their faces could be blue or pink, it wouldn't matter.
However yeah things have changed and if they upset black people then yes the landlord should not display them. If his wife wants a private collection then fine but I don't see the need to make a point about some toys, at the risk of upsetting and creating division. There's more important things in life.
The landlord and his wife should do the right thing though and just accept that we live in a different world now.

So police raided a pub in Essex and seized 15 Golliwog dolls which were on display as part of a hate crime investigation. They put each doll into a clear evidence bag and took them away. Apparently the couple who run the pub refused to remove them in 2018 after a complaint was received by the local authority.

Is it a criminal offence to own or display one of these dolls or badges now? I remember they were very popular when I was growing up but I can see how they would be viewed differently today. Strange case.

Its quite funny - all day I have seen articles and heard Nick "I am not a Tory really " Ferrari referring to Golly Dolls. I wonder why - I mean they are all keen to tell us its not offensive so why Golly Dogs? It's almost like they are seeking not to offend people lol

The landlord posted on Facebook in 2016 that “They used to hang them in Mississippi years ago” and did the rounds in the press in 2018 in a Britain First shirt. I'm sure some decent enough posters have defended and continue to defend him here in good faith, but sometimes you've just got to accept a racist knobhead has been a racist knobhead and move on with your life.
