Racist pub owners made to remove “golliwog” dolls

Yes, but the standard definition of pig includes the word domesticated.

So not farmed and eaten? Well not the legendary 14th century pig it depicts anyway.

Has anyone actually met a Muslim offended by all porcines or just the thought of eating them or touching their meat?
I have eaten wild boar. It tastes like gamey pork.
Scientifically, both species belong to the genus sus. Sus domesticus and sus scrofa.
As for Muslims and pigs, I know one family that eat bacon, but only when dad, who is more observant, is away. I have eaten pork when sharing a restaurant meal with a Muslim friend and he was completely relaxed about it. He had chicken on that occasion.
Two Muslim families I know always offer a glass of wine when I am at theirs, one is teetotal and the other drinks happily.
Never met a Muslim who was offended in any way by pigs, but there must be some, I suppose.

I've never understood how sports journalists get away with blatant lies. If I had my way I'd start by cleaning up the back pages first with massive fines for any unproven nonsense. Then I'd work my way towards the front pages where you have the sticky issues of politics.
Politics= blatant lies.

Book burning is freedom of expression. Those Gerrard autobiographies deserved it.
I know you were joking but there was an unholy row about the play Behzti some years ago. (Set in a Sikh temple.) Protests against it turned violent and the play was cancelled. The then culture secretary whose name escapes me said she thought the violence was an example of freedom of expression. Jeez.

My daughter's primary school was predominantly muslims, specifically from north-west pakistan, and the stupidity over pigs was off the scale. A particularly ridiculous incident was when they had a school trip to a power plant somewhere and because the safety video they had was given by a cartoon pig, half the class refused to go into the power plant. Entirely the parent's fault for being complete dicks about these things (there was a huge amount of racism at that school directed towards anyone who wasn't in afore mentioned category, including british born kids of pakistani descent. The most bigoted bunch of pricks I have ever come across).

Yeah, familiar with it. In the English Language and Literature course on the International Bachelorette, I had several students debate and then present an essay on the term freedom of expression using contemporary British examples. They were confused and messed up in their conclusions... which reflected well on the state of reality. I think society isn't far off a system reboot.
