Only Monaco willing to pay the whole way for Falcao
Despite Manchester United having acquired a first option on Falcao (which keeps them informed of any official approaches), none of the big clubs is willing to pay the 60 million euros buy out clause of the Colombian striker and even less the 10 million euros a year wages demanded by his representatives.
The first consequence of this is that, if nobody pays the buy out clause, Atletico Madrid can decide which team to sell, if any. They have promised the player they will not block any big transfer, as long as it is for at least 50 million euros.
The second one is that for Falcao to move to one of the big clubs that have shown interest in him (Real Madrid, City, Chelsea, PSG, United) he will have to reduce his wages. If he goes as low as 6 milion, Real Madrid, which had told his agent that they were out of the auction, will come back to try to get him. Falcao has learnt that even 6 million euros net could be too expensive even for Manchester United. So, despite having that first option, United could be pushed out of the auction by the clubs willing to pay more wages and more transfer fee.
Manchester United needs to find a club willing to buy Wayne Rooney and none of the big ones have come forward apart from PSG, but their approach has not become an offer or not yet anyway. If they cannot sell the England international, it is very unlikely they will spend such a huge amount of money for Falcao.
So, is Falcao a victim of the new fair play rules where nobody wants to spend the huge amounts of the past or of the poorer second half of the season?
Yes, it seems this is the saga of this summer

This is going to be a very interesting development over the summer for sure. You can already see why so many clubs were for it when you have the likes of Real Madrid saying "lol at those wages mate". Still, all brinkmanship at the moment. He could still get what he's after.

This. I'm not so sure we're as interested as some would lead us to believeSyth said:Why would he join Monaco who are won't be in the CL and leave a perfectly good thing in Atletico? In my opinion he will either go to Real/Chelsea or stay with Atletico.
