oh yeh i keep forgetting about their home grown talent or bargins that fergie has sniffed out.

rooney - 30 mill
fredinand - 30 mill
berbaflop - 30 mill
nani - 17 mill
anderson - 12 million
carrick - 16 mill
Hargreaves - 16 million

obviously they have Pele Welbeck and zidane cleverly who if sold could make a possible 250 million.

Over how many years were those signings spread?

The Rags have paid out £460 million on buying players since the year 2000 ..... approximately £240 million was spent between 2000 & 2004 ...... so if you add inflation as Bank of England statement's to that (not football inflation which is much higher) then the figure is approximately £540 million.

Oh, and do you remember this pearler from Saturday, April 3, 2010, in the 'Can City get third?' thread?

You'd need to win all your games and Arsenal collect 4 out of 15 points just to be level. That's not happening.
What brings you out of the woodwork now, troll?
He should come back here more often, that prediction was half perfect

What the fuck do you know about anything you bell end?
Still think Mancini is useless, that Hughes is better and that Rafa is the top manager around?

A message to City fans.

Firstly let's get it out the way, yes, I'm bitter.

Bitter, but I'm also proud. Proud to support a team that has worked it's way up to the top of the footballing world through years of success. We are a footballing force respected the world over for the hard work that has gone into our achievements. Yes, we've spent a few bob along the way but we've also earned every single penny of that through money that is directly related to our hardwork and performances on the field. Every penny we spend isn't a sign of us "buying a title" it's a sign of our success in the past.

I love the rivalry we have with Liverpool, I hate them, but I respect them. The same went with Leeds a few years back and Arsenal now.

I don't have a single ounce of respect for you, nor Chelsea, both your team's "success" have nothing to do with any sort of hard work that has been put in over the years, it has nothing to do with any talent your coaches have produced nor with talent born anywhere near your club.

So, if you go on and win the league this season or next season, I'll be smiling in the knowledge that deep down, you know you can't really be proud of your team. Not like a United, Liverpool or Arsenal can of their team. So it doesn't matter how successful you are from here on in, you'll never have any real respect from any neutrals and it'll never feel anything like how we feel when we win something. All you'll have is the same empty feeling like when you are struggling on Football Manager so you edit the game to give to a few hundred millions, any success after that just feels wrong.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Of course they never rewrote the rules to ensure that THEY kept all the gate receipts.

Of course they never joined the G14 to ensure that THEY and their European friends ensured a European cartel.

And of course THEY never outspent everyone else with their ill-gotten gains to buy overpriced players from Pallister to Veron, Rooney to Berbatov.

This post drips with regulation, if delusional, rag bitterness.

They've not been able to compete with us off the pitch for a few years; today merely showed that they can't compete with us on it either, but some kind of mythology endures that they never bought anyone for big money and other rags queue up to endorse that view.

Pathetic in extremis.

And that's only half the story:

Being bailed out by sugar daddy owners John Henry Davies and James Gibson.

Not to mention, being bailed out by Manchester City FC on numerous occasions - to take one example, without our intervention in the Manchester Central saga there might not even be a Manchester United. Never mind sticking that shitty little plaque on the bridge commemorating Gibson saving their club in the 1930's; there should be a big fuck off plaque right outside The Swamp thanking MCFC for all the times we've helped them out of the shit the fucking ungrateful bastards.

Cunts like Pexbo and that other clueless fuckwit Crustanoid cheering on from the sidelines would do well to learn a thing or two about United's history before casting aspersions about City. Fair play to some of the other Rags on that thread for putting those two ignorant twats straight.

This had to be a City fan taking the piss

" Fuck me, what a day.

Left Milton Keynes at 8am, hungover and tired. Stood on a train the whole way, no fuckings seats. Got the tram from Piccadilly to OT, mainly full of thier terrible songs (not bitter they do have awful songs). Great atmosphere and a load of beers in Sam Platts.

Out played by City for 75 minutes (good for the first 15). Easy to blame the defence but they literally got no support. Totally exposed time and time again. Correct decision on the red card.

Silva gave us a footballing lesson. What a player.

Least i was at Piccadilly again by the time the scummy twats got thier last 3 goals."

All sounds quite plausible to me. The only issue I've got is him getting back to Piccadilly by the time we banged in those last 3 goals. If he bailed it straight after our third that would've given him only 20 minutes which isn't possible by walking or tram (tram station is 10 minutes walk from the ground), and almost certainly not possible by bus. I suppose he could've jumped a taxi though ;)

Absolutely no merit in this 'achievement' at all. If I played a game of chess and was only allowed pawns, whilst my opponent had the queens, bishops, rooks etc, then I'd lose.

Tedious media wanking over this non-event today
