In 1975 United were in the 2nd division and had an average attendance for the season of 48.389.
City were in the first division and had an average attendance of 32.898

Were there a few games early in that season where there were only 23-27000 though? and it was only when it was clear United were gonna have a chance of getting promoted that the crowds increased to 50-55000!? What if you'd struggled that season, what would your attendances have been then?
