Raheem Sterling - 2016/17 performances

I think him and Silva are the standout players of the recent run of form. Lots of good performances all over the pitch but when you look at where the goals have been coming from its always Silva and Sterling.

Our second best player this season.

Felt a bit of a waste for him to score at an away ground where he wasn't being booed with every touch. Can't wait for his next goal at Anfield.

Can't wait to see which player that will score a couple of goals in these next months and take his place in the TOTS. I think we all know he wont get a place there but which right winger is even close to matching his season? Can't think of anyone apart from Mane.
They will play a diamond so they don't have to pick him.

Can I just say watching a highlight back then on sky....I want to see Raheem flip-flap someone with a skill move please. Get it sorted on the training ground and then put it into game time : )

How does one "flip-flap" someone?

It'll be Pedro, watch.

If that second goal goes down as an og does Aguero get the assist or does Sterling still get it?

Age doesn't come into it, they are just better players. Sterling is not at the level of Hazard and if Sterling played for anyone else you would agree with me.

This is like when Liverpool sold us Sterling and their fans stated that it didn't matter because Ibe was better. He wasnt then, he isnt now and he never will be.......even though he is younger than Sterling.

Sterling is a good player with some great attributes but Hazard is a level or two above. There is nothing wrong with that, no team has ever had the best player in every position.

The Real Madrid team of the early 2000's could argue different.
Arguably the best keeper in the world at the time.
Arguably the best left back in the world at the time.
Arguably the best right back in the world at the time, for me Cafu was the best at the time but Salgado wasn't far behind.
Arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world at the time.
In Zidane and Figo arguably the 2 best attacking midfielders in the world at the time, Nedved's the only one who came close at that time for me.
Comfortably the best 2 strikers in the world at the time
And the biggest ball bag in world sport at the time in Golden fucking Balls.

If you use fantasy football stats; i.e. winning a penalty that is converted counts as an assist (which in my eyes it should count on official stats too), and you compare the wingers/star players of our rivals then you get:

Player | PL Starts | Goals | Assists | Goals/Assists Game
Mane--------21----------11--------6------------0.80
Sterling----22------------6-------11------------0.77
[Pedro------16-----------6--------6------------0.75] Played some as striker
De Bruyne 22-----------4-------12------------0.72
[Alli----------22----------11--------5-----------0.72] Not a winger, but a star performer for Spurs
Martial-------10----------3--------4------------0.70
Coutinho---16-----------5--------6------------0.69
Hazard------24----------10--------6------------0.66
Eriksen------24----------5--------11-----------0.66
Sane----------8-----------2---------3-----------0.63
Walcott-----18-----------8--------3------------0.61
[Firmino----24-----------8--------6------------0.58] Plays as striker often.
Mata---------14-----------6--------2------------0.57
Rashford-----10----------3--------2------------0.50
Iwobi---------17----------3--------5------------0.47
Mkhitaryan--10-----------3--------1-----------0.40
[Pogba-------24-----------4--------3-----------0.29] More of a comparison to Alli/De Bruyne as his like-for-like rivals

Second only to Mane this season in terms of productivity for comparable players at other rivals. And I believe Mane has actually played some games as striker? Not sure what else people expect from the guy, he's young so invariably can improve on certain areas, but this season he's been easily one of our most consistent performers, and a bloody hard worker.

Glad to have him.

Good game, no silly mistakes.
solid performance.

This post sums up the negative reaction for me.

'No silly mistakes'?

He's literally one of our best players and arguably our player of the season.

Would you go into a thread of Sane, Jesus or Aguero and say 'no silly mistakes'? Would you ****.

It's because people dislike Raheem purely because they're influenced by The Daily Star and The Sun.
