Thought you might make an appearance tonight. Fortunately Sterling has kept you quiet for the most part of the season.
His final ball is consistently poor.

The lad just doesn't seem to have a footballing brain.

He's done ok this season but for what he cost you'd expect more. I want better for us next season.

Pretty strange to have that many assists if his final ball is consistently poor. And his football brain is very good, his movement off the ball is amazing.
"He's done ok this season". Lol.

He hasnt kept me quiet ive just laid off him when i could have had a go many times ! If you think he's had a good season then fair enough personally I don't and think his days are numbered.

De Bruyne has been brilliant at times for us but has been poor in equal measure. I don't think he has shown anything this season that suggests he will consistently perform at a high level. Sterling is exactly the same, nowhere near clinical enough when in good positions. It might be a mental thing with both that Guardiola can sort out but I don't think so.

If you don't think that either of those have shown enough to suggest they can perform at a high level then we might be watching different players. Admittedly de bruyne has been mostly poor this season and sterling probably had his worst game in a while but you only need to look at de bruyne's performances last season in the champions league(or for wolfsburg for that matter) to see what a player he is. Even this season where he hasn't performed to his ability and confidence seems very low, he still leads the team in chances created and assists in the league and creates at least one clear chance each game. As for sterling you can pick any of his champions league performances for city since joining and outside of maybe 1 or 2 games he's consistently been amongst the teams' better performers on that stage(5 goals, 8 assists in 13 starts). Now you can think they are overrated or not good enough that's your opinion, I would even agree with you that they haven't been clinical enough this season, but to suggest they can't perform consistently at the highest level when the facts show they clearly can and have is just not being honest. I mean didn't sterling score the winner in the reverse fixture against arsenal earlier in the season aswel.

I loved those comments by him in that Guardian piece. He's got a bit of a reputation about him that I think is totally wrong. He's driven, ambitious, and committed to improving.

He'll never win some over, this thread is proof of that. But I can't wait to see how he develops with us.

The happy brigade out in force again today I see. Those who are dissing the lad are either:
1. Sheep who follow the media agenda
2. Have eyes of their own but don't understand football
3. Rags hiding on the forum
4. Base their knowledge of football on playing FIFA 17
5. Watch all our games without realising that other teams 'star' players are inconsistent (including Messi and Fake Ronaldo) because you only ever see the highlights
6. They are thick
7. They are all of the above

Some have valid points but the level of vitriol (look the word up if 6 applies to you) is pathetic.

He has 6 assists in the league this season according to the Official PL site, fewer than Zaha and Matt Phillips and equal with Matic and Dimitri Payet. It's hardly an earth shattering amount.

10 if you include penalties won that we've scored from, I don't get why you wouldn't count them as an assist as giving a teammate a free shot from 12 yards is as good an assist as you'll likely give. Then you consider the penalties that weren't given to him that should've been and then you start to get a different picture, not earth shattering mind but then I can't recall anyone on here claiming it was.

Which ever way you look at it, at some stage over the next season or two. Pep will ask him self. With the front three that I have can this team be word class. Jesus- yes, Sane -yes, Sterling. ?????

I've been a member on here since 2008 and i have honestly never seen so many posters seemingly hell bent on talking down our own.

Some of these player performance threads at time would be better sat on RAWK or Ragcafe!
