Sterling is going to be special. It's easy to forget he's still only 22 and has a LOT of learning still to do. I get the impression he thinks he's in the best place he could possibly be to do so. That reverse pass to Silva for the second yesterday was sheer quality, not because of the execution of it, but because of the vision and awareness of his team mate.

I wonder if the scousers still think he made a bad decision coming to us

Why would you think they have singled out Sterling as opposed to any other black player?

It's not just Sterling. But he gets it more than anyone.

Why did they coerce a story about having multiple kids with different mothers?
Why do they bring up his wealth in every story?
Why do they dig into his family's background? He bought his mother a house after being brought up in a council flat in a very poor area of London. This was 'flaunting cash'. Then when he gives up his time to take photos with fans by a local shop he's cheap.

The press have sold this kid as a bad troublemaker. He may have done one or two things he regrets - like we all do at that age but this kid as a teenager has been the center of their attention.

Footballers on the whole get judged by their lifestyle and some like Beckham love the attention and court celebrity.

But black footballers like Sterling, Sturridge, Pogba, Zaha and others seem to particularly be judged on their clothing, their hair and that they listen to rap. They get labelled 'arrogant' 'lazy' 'flashy' and subconsciously this gets trickled down into judging their performances. This is my opinion of course.

Radar boundaries represent the top 5% and bottom 5% of all statistical production by players in that position across 5 leagues (EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1) and 5 seasons of data.

How do you even work out wtf that means, that picture is mind boggling to me.

Maybe he should take a knee at the CL anthem tonight!

Explanation is beneath the tweet, the furthest point is the top 5% in Europes top 5 leagues.

So Sterling ranks among the top 5% in Europe for touches in the box, expected assists per 90 minutes, and xG chain, which measures how involved players are in phases of play which lead to a chance which has a high probability of being a goal.

Conversely he's very low in regards to through balls etc.

The diagram is a way of having a visual way of comparing a players stats to the best in Europe. The bigger the star, the better the player.

Ted Knutson, the guy that produces them, works for a company which consults with PL teams to bring analytics to a practical level.
